yup, and its dead easy too! If you look at their nails, they look the same as ours, there is a pink bit (with flesh under) and then a white part, like the tips of our nails, where the nail is dead. You just need to clip off a small section of the white part. I suggest doing the following for a cat who hasn't had their nails clipped before. Get someone to help you, they hold the cat against their shoulder, so the cats paws are sticking over the persons shoulder, this gives them a firm grip on the cat, and the other person stands behind them and squeezes kitties paws, and trims! Done! Once the cat is used to the procedure, which should be done around every two weeks or so, you will eventually be able to pin it down almost anywhere, and trim by yourself!

I've trimmed a lot of cats' nails before, but never a dog's, so what do I know. But I imagine that it is pretty similar.
You have gotten a lot of good advice, and I only have two points to add: 1. You don't necessarily need a special trimmer. I simply use a regular human nail-clipper. 2. If you are not sure you can hold your cat, one of these Klaw Kontrol Bags might help: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=3159&N=2002+113036 (This link is just an example, I'm sure they are available at many places)

Yes you can but you have to be careful not to cut into the vein.
There is a vein that runs inside a cats nail.
if the nail is white you can see this vein, if it is black you cannot. You don't want to cut a cats nails to short, just enough to get rid of that hook that you see at the end.
If you're unsure, you should find someone to show you the first time you do this.
Also some cats will get really upset when you do this, and scratch and or bite. Be Careful.

Sure you can. You can buy clippers especially for this at the store. Be careful and don't "quick" the nails. This means only clip the end and don't get that vein that runs through the nail. Not only is bloody, but it is VERY painful for the poor cat and it will be a long time before he trusts you again!
Dark nails are harder to cut than clear ones because you can see the vein in the clear ones.
I have to cut my cat's nails or they become needles and the vet even complains.

Cats nails are not like a dog's nails. Cats will remove the husks, the outer shell by scratching their front paws and by chewing their back nails. They don't need trimming like a dog.
You can tip just the curved portion of each nail if you are trying to prevent furniture damage. Otherwise, unless you see nails growing in oddly or not being shed normally, you can leave them.

Of course you can. In fact, that's the best way to keep them from scratching up your furniture, and it sure is better than having them declawed. Just take a paw, push gently on it, to get the nail to extend, then cut the tip off. Don't take too much, just back to where you can see the "blood line" in the nail. If you can't see it, just trim the "point" off. Scratching posts are good for helping them get rid of the "sheath" that covers the nail......like cutting our nails....Good luck .....

generally a canines is heavier and not as probably to stay in the single spot for too long... so cats could be considered much less demanding, regardless of the undeniable fact that it relies upon on the indoors maximum characteristics of the canines/cat, some will attempt to chew in case you do, others in simple terms famous individual purring or in simple terms lay there and watch you.

Ouch. A cat would scratch your arms off. Give her a xanix, let her go to deep sleep, cut them. No, the cat needs to have nails.

Yes, but make sure you only clip the tip. It is also wise to have someone help you to hold the cat if it is very large. Our Felix is so large it takes someone to hold him down because he gets jumpy and then my son accidentally cuts the "quick" which makes him bleed.
