Have the other 2 cats tested as well. It is possibly they already have the virus. If they are negative, speak to your vet.

Cats can live with Feline Leukemia. Not all of them show signs of sickness, so even though your cat is infected it is not necessarily a death sentence for her. She can still be with you for a very long time.

Keep them away form eachother! They are at risk becasue feline leukemia is a contagious disease! The humane thing to do is have the cat that's infeceted put down, so that he would be out of paina nd so that he wouldn't feel alone and so that it would protect your other cats. Don;t let your other cats eat or drink from the same bowl, use the same litter box, or have direct contact. It will take a few weeks to know if yuor other cats are infected. i really hope they aren't. I'm sorry that you;re cat got infected, it;s sad becasue there isn;t a cure and they will be sick their entire lives. I'm sorry. I'll pray for you.

There is a couple of absolutely excellent lists on yahoogroups, go there and type in 'feline leukemia FeLV' and see what comes up. Join the groups and tell them you're a new owner and need ifnormation. These people live with their cats and can tell you how at risk (or not at risk) your other cats are, plus fill you in on all sorts of stuff.

I'm sorry to tell you that since the virus is in the blood, saliva, mucus, urine and feces of infected cats, any
contact by an uninfected cat with these body fluids can result in transmission of the virus.
The virus is fragile in the environment, however, so fairly direct contact is necessary for
it to be transmitted. Fighting, sharing food and water bowls, sharing litter boxes, and
mutual grooming are the most common means of transmission.

FeLV positive cat's cannot share a household with non FeLV positive cats.

Unfortunately your other cats may be at risk. Take them to the vet and ask them to test them. My mom had a cat who had feline leukemia and had to put on meds., they tested her other cats for free and thankfully they were fine. Just talk to your vet. Wish you the best!

Feline leukemia, i'm so sorry to hear that, first thing you should do is seperate the cats and have your other two cats tested now.

Feline leukemia isn't treated very easily, most owners, sorry to say, euthanize their animals that are infected.

Leukemia is definitely airborne. Call your vet ASAP to see what they say but the need to eat out of separate bowls. It can be catchy. Your cat could get really sick but with the right meds, it may live a good life!

Call the vet and ask though.

i know its hard but you have 2 seclude ur infected cat. give it its own space, water, food, litter box, etc. you have 2 seclude it if u dont want ur other cats to catch it intill u vaccinate them or have them checked and the infected cat treated.
