My friend got a really bad sunburn the other day. She followed these quick steps and now, it's barely noticeable.

1. Take a warm - but not hot! - shower.
2. Once you're dry, apply aloe vera to your arms.
3. Moisturize that area.

If it doesn't work the first day, repeat those steps nightly and it should fade quickly.

For the first 24 hours after a burn, don't put on anything greasy... it holds in the heat and can make the burn worse. You can use aloe vera or a product like Burn Free. Also, I recently read that an NSAID like aspirin or ibuprofen can help. A cool bath might help to soothe it. A sunburn is a first-degree burn, just like if you burned your finger on a stove or something. Treat it accordingly. And I hope you feel better soon! I've been there. Next time you go out use an appropriate sunblock or wear long sleeves and you'll save yourself the misery.

I'm Irish so I sunburn very easily. I used to get out in the sun and burn really bad. My grandmother always had me wash the burn gently with cool water and a very mild soap (I used Neutrogena) and then apply old fashioned, original Noxzema cream. This is the easiest treatment, and really very good.

I would advise using banana boat aloe vera gel or banana boat aloe vera lotion, it will sooth the sunburn and help the redness go away.
