Ok, i was born in Mexico, but my mom brought me here to the states when i was 5, it was not my choice and she had to do it because i had an abusive father who tried to kill her several times.

Now, i'm gonna be a senior and i want to go to college, but can't because i'm not a citizen.

I've been going to pre-college since the 6th grade, and got a 28 on the ACT. My IQ is 156.

Any ideas on what to do, i really wanna go to college.

I could care less if you think i should go back to my "home."
My "home" is here in the U.S. I've spent most of my life here, and plan to continue doing so.
I never thought i would come across people that are so negative.

Most of my friends are white, and they have no problem with illegals.

What i find even more disturbing is that ignorant people like most of you actually downgrade people like ladyshondra for trying to help me.

and as far as the "my kids can't get into college" guess what, they need to quit fooling around and start studying.

This was never about money.
The word "money" is never even mentioned in my details, or the question..

And no, not everyone is like you "JUSTME"
my friends are very outspoken and blunt about everything, so i know if they have something to say, they will say it.

Money is not the issue, i have over 50 thousand saved up for college, my mom started a college fund as soon as she could work.

The question was directed towards becoming a permanent resident.

Honey, please ignore the hateful, ignorant people that tell you IRRELEVANT things and harass you for asking a straightforward question. If they couldn't answer it, they shouldn't have posted anything. They will, no doubt, thumbs down my post into oblivion, as, anyone who doesn't agree with them is thumbed down.

Anyway, Please talk to your counselor. Quite often it is difficult to admit to school officials about your status, but, please do so. Your counselor will help you. Depending on the state that you are in, you may be able to attend college. If you are in a state where you must give a number, You can apply for an TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number), and, may be able to go to school with this. YOu can also pay taxes with it, when you become employed.

There are several states where you can attend college without providing proof of legal status. You will have to pay the "out of state" rate, though, which is considerably higher. Also, you probably won't qualify for work study, or, any grants.

I don't know all states that allow undocumented students to attend, but, new mexico and texas are 2 that do. There is a way to attend in Wisconsin, also.

The problem is that once you get out, if you don't have a legal status, you won't be able to apply your degree.

Good luck, Honey. Hope to help! DON'T GIVE UP! A great brain is a rarity!

Bottom line is you are illegal. Not your choice, but it is what it is. Why didn't you talk with your mother long before this point . Being a Senior does not give you much time to TRY and get yourself and your mother on the path to citizenship. Maybe an attorney would help. Don't know.

Because of your illegal status, I would not think you would be a candidate for grants or scholarships. Those are given to legal citizens.

It is a shame that the children have to suffer because of their parents actions.

Added:
You asked for opinions, and that is what you received. Most people are against illegal criminals... now can you really blame them? Fact is, you are a citizen of Mexico, not the US. You have taken the education you have already received, and now you want to take more and more of it? Perhaps the money would be there for more legal citizens to attend college had taxes not been spent to educate illegals. It is not always that people are not studying... mostly it is the expense.
Ohhhh... your friends are probably saying to your fact that they don't have a problem with illegals, but it is different behind your back...

I don't feel bad, go back and get a visa...you could also join the american military. With american scores like that I'm sure there would be a decent mexican college/university you could study at.

your mom started a college fund huh? Sounds pretty responsible, so why couldn't she responsibly and legally get into the country and make you a legal citizen? Must be nice to save that much money, although I'm sure it's not hard when you are being paid under the table and gip every other AMERICAN business owner with expired coupons, false complaints and no tips to service workers.
must be easy when you're living off wic checks...how many "naturalized" little brothers and sisters do you have?

points being, i'm not inhuman or ignorant, there are a lot of americans statistically smarter than you, poorer than you and more deserving than you...you know why?...because you're not american. You're mexican. So, if you love this country so much and want to be here so bad why don't you get a visa or join the military?
because the whole point of this post was to make us real americans look bad by saying we're inhumane or racist or whatever when in fact inhumane would be to put illegals in interment camps or have a massive genocide camp. We're more than fair...and the proof of that is is that you're still her today in my country..playing the pity card to go to college and qualify for grants and scholarships that you in fact shouldn't qualify for.

Your mother is an illegal alien that has raised you as an illegal you had 14 yrs of working the system instead of becoming legal. An you are asking us for more$.Ask yourself what have you done for this country. It's a shame what parents lead there children into. You may be the Nice's person in the world but you had a choice along with your mother.A lot of USA citizens are not able to send there children to college as the cost to have to pay for the social services or exurbanite.

I suggest that you talk to a school counselor about your problem. Maybe s/he can get you on the path to getting proper documentation that will allow you to attend college in the United States.

You might have to go through a lot of trouble, and it might take at least a year after you graduate, but you can do it. With you skills it should be easy to obtain proper documentation that states you can legally stay here and pursue an education.

Talk to the high school counselor, or go to the college of your choice and talk to a counselor there.

Last I checked, they have colleges in Mexico, amigo.

Your mother did not have only one option. I admire that she had the guts to leave a bad situation. But she had a rather large area that she could have hidden in. Coming to the US was her choice - not a necessity. If she wanted to really be here and do right, she should have done it legally. I am sure there would have been some consideration for her situation.

I don't feel for your situation. I know that you weren't given a choice. But I think instead of having the pity party, you need to discuss things with the one that is at fault - mom and her "choice".

ehh, if your IQ really were 156, you would have figured out many, many ways to take care of your problem already, given what information is available on the net today. Also, if you really were a high school student , most schools have counselors for students on issues like this, why you would even waste your time on this site and squabble with those who don't want you here, is very very strange,,,,,,,

all the sweet encouragements coming from all these sweet, ignorantly naive ladies just make me cringe

Who cares!! Get your butt out of our country you are nothing but a criminal and are attempting to take a college slot for a deserving LEGAL citizen. In case I didn't mention it before GET OUT YOU ARE NOT WANTED HERE!!!!!!!

ADDED:

Obviously your 156 IQ is cloudy and you missed the bottom line. YOU ARE STILL A CRIMINAL AND ARE NOT WANTED IN THE US.

I don't care about your friends and still think you are a pathetic waste of space. FYI, most people 3 degrees above the mean on the IQ scale would not bother to mention it to others. Go on now, admit it, you're just another pitiful child of criminals who is also a criminal himself and just wants another hand out.

A real genius could become a citizen. A person who cared for America would follow the laws of this land. There are a million scams and this just sounds like another one. I am sorry you are not well received. For you it should come down to a honor thing to do the right thing.
