Teresa Jenkins is the weaver behind Helena Handbasket. She started weaving in 2002, and while skeptical at first, (crazy people weave baskets) she was hooked immediately. Teresa weaves with a wonderful group of women who live around the Indianapolis, IN area. Helena Handbasket came about as an outlet for her love of weaving and a lack of space in her small house. She needed to find good homes for her baskets so that she could continue to weave even more!

Teresa is a wife, mother of 4 grown children, grandmother of Chloe and Dylan, and former Montessori teacher. She loves God deeply, enjoys music always, and generally doesn’t act her age. (51)

Helena Handbasket was founded by a quirky, middle-aged woman who finds joy in God, life, love, family, and hand-weaving baskets. She talks to each of her baskets as she weaves them and assures them that they will be placed in loving homes where they will be cared for and find fulfillment. Each Helena Handbasket is hand-woven and therefore unique. (Sizes may vary some.) You can expect delivery in 4 to 6 weeks.

Should you decide to purchase a basket, please refer to the following care instructions. To care for your Helena Handbasket, talk to it daily. (They love music too.) Don’t allow your basket to become lazy - use it! Once a year your basket will need a spritzing of water to keep it young and supple. If your basket has an oak bottom, please keep it dry. (We all know how important a dry bottom is!)

if your friends are looking for a quirky, high-quality, hand-woven basket, be sure to tell them to go to Helena Handbasket!
