I use to be the exact same way and I never thought I could change. Then I discovered the best diet ever. Eating all day. I would start by eating maybe scambled eggs in the morning, acouple hours later an apple, then for lunch a small sandwich or oatmeal, then acouple hours late cottage cheese and then for super just eating a smaller helping than I would usually. By eating small amounts all day my stomach shrunk right away. I even went out for dinner and thought I could eat a big steak dinner like usual and I couldn't! Good luck!

I know how you feel. I have found a solution to my problems in Over Eaters Anonymous. A 12 step program based on the program Alcoholics use.
Chips & Sweets have an affect on the body and mind like drugs and alcohol. In the past I have abused food by using it to soothe mental or emotional problems.
After begining the program 4 months ago, I have made progress in not bingeing. I have lost 30 lbs. I too ate a mostly healthy diet, except for the periods when I would go wild and eat till I cried from the stomach pain. Dieting doesn't work because it does not adress the underlying problems. Weight & food consumption are just a symptom of something deeper that is bothering you.

I had the same problem for a few months, I would eat until I was hunched over in pain..it would feel like knifes were going through my stomach because I would eat so much. Eventually I gained about 20 pounds, I've never hated myself so much. I recently took control of it and have lost about half of the weight I gained. I can't tell you how I stopped but I have been struggling with different eating disorders for a few years now ranging from bulimia[which I tend to think I have the most\most often] to anorexia and compulsive overeating. I set up an appointment and talked to a consoulor. I was eating because I was depressed about other things, and the sugars/carbs that i was eating was helping me feel better because of my low levels of seretonin.
If you EVER need to talk to anyone
my email is katelynng10@yahoo.com
feel free, i've been there.. and i might need you to help keep me on track also
:)take care

Just stop doing it. If you won't get help, then don't do that. Just like if you were smoking, I would say, stop that. My son told me not to drink and drive and I stopped drinking altogether. Just like that. So, stop it. Take up a hobby, like sewing. It is lots of fun, and at least you save money. But eating so much makes you sick and your body sluggish, and puts fat all over. Don't do that ever again. Or get help and spend time talking to someone or another, get meds, and go in a hospital. Someone will figure you are hurting yourself for no reason. You aren't a criminal, why punish yourself? It takes 20 minutes for someone to feel full, so just wait. Nothing will happen if you wait. The world won't end. The wind won't stop. The sun will shine. Just hold off, and do some housework. I don't know what else to say, as you won't get help. So get tough with yourself and your demons, and stop telling yourself bad things.

I think i have this same problem. Recently, i have been telling myself what is a reasonable amount of food, for it to be either a meal or a snack. Then, i would take my food into a room, away from other food, freezers, fridges, etc. I would eat it kind of slowly, and not think too much about it. By being away from other foods, the extra & unneccessary foods would b less tempting. Also, avoid eating while watching tv, or on the computer, that way i would keep track of how much food i have ate. I think this is because of a slow digestive system. I never really feel full unless I pig out and wait a cuple hours. if you get any great advice, please tell me and email me @ me39721@yahoo.com Thanx & Good Luck!

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.
Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

If you are concerned about this then you need more serious help than Yahoo! Answers can provide. You can get help from a counselor or psychiatrist. Also, there is a support group called Overeaters Anonymous who should be able to help you. Best wishes for a healthy future.

This could very well be caused from some sort of stress related issues you may have and dont realize your having them, and instead your internalizing them with eating. So, my suggestions to you would be to go and take walks everytime you go too the kichen for anything.. Also, go and buy some very deliscious fruits and vegeez, and without butter, or salt eat those for your regular meals in between, but walks for anytime you feel the need to eat fattening things, or just simply excercise right there in your own home, instead of eating..... Or jog in place, and then take breaks, and drink lots of good tasting water, in between, then go for the healthier snacks, instead, and you wont be as hungry, if you do work outs, instead of binging on just anything!! Its fun , and very effective, I know because I come from a family of eating disorders, and I once was anorexic many years ago.........But, I quit because my sister noticed and got upset with me once and almost cried while begging me to eat a sandwich for her!! So, I said I would but later, I spit it out into my napkin when she wasn't looking.. One week later I had thought about how selfish I was being to her and perhaps other family members who knew about it through her, and decided to begin eating again, but ate 'Right' foods, instead so I wouldn't put on alot of weight just overnight, you know.. Such as celery sticks, and carrot sticks, with ranch dressing, and lots of melons, and apples, and banana's, and tons of squashes, and would steam the squashes, and eat them with potatoes, and just salsa on the baked potaoes, instead of butter or salt, and never ate chips or anything high in carbs, or salt intakes, of any kinds, and I just looked healthy and lean, but color was coming back into my face again and everyone was sooo happy to see me taking better care of myself once again!! I still worked-out like crazy however, in between and doing sit-ups in bed at night, and lots of bend-overs, and touching the toes, and scissors, while lieing in bed, and leg lifts in bed too!! And these are what you might want to try as well, you'll be happy and healthier for it, and your body will stay in shape at the same time as well....Good luck, to you hun!! And eating isn't a bad thing its what we eat that matters, and how to balance our eating and excerciseing lives, in between you know.. Moderation is more the word, everything in Moderation, you know hun!! Smile!! Your going to do just fine, I have faith in you, just because you cared enough to ask us!!

By watching urself eat like that in the mirror. It shows u as u really are thru ur own eyes and perspective. My aunt ate like that and saw herself at night tearing away at a bowl of cereal and looked up and saw a beast in the mirror. An uncontrolable beast who didnt love herself. So she figured, thats wut everyone else saw. And she stopped. Went out running in the mornings lost all her weight, adopted a kid, and moved to a nice condo.
