"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

Yes, we are called out only because of JESUS' mercy, we are called out of the world and out of its darkness...now dead to the world's system and no longer part of satan's domain.
Having been called out, now filled with everlasting life.
We are not completely out of the world though, as we don't get to experience a complete calling out until our physical death, when we will be finally and fullly regenerated in spirit, mind and body.
Since we are not yet finally called out, we remain here in our fleshly bodies midst pain, sin, temptation and suffering.
Until such time of final regeneration we can't experience the completeness of sinlessness or the complete fulness of His love.
Having been called out yet being left here not because we desire to be but because God has a reason; He desire us to share with others His LOVE , The LOVE of Jesus we came to , so others too can be called out of the world's system and into everlasting life.
John similiarly spoke about what happened when he was called out, John 17: 14.

To be honest, I doubt if the original poster is a Christian. The 'question' sounds a touch sarcastic to me.
In answer...I dont agree that only Christians have been chosen. Everyone is chosen, whether they believe in Him or not, as it is unimportant. What is important is how you live your life. If you live a good life then you are 'saved', if you lead a bad life then you will not be 'saved'. As for what the good life is...only God knows. So just kick back and enjoy your life, He will do all the rest.
And for those who fell this sentiment pushes you away from organised religion/increases your dislike for Christian (or religious people in general), please realise that most people are not 'in-your-face about religion'. I am a Christian and if you want me to I will tell you the joys of being one. If you dont want to believe and dont want to hear me, then I wont say anthing about it at all.

"Chosen"........"called"........."a child of the Most High God".............His mercy and grace abounds! Praise be unto Him!
Yes, I am so thankful--and I tell Him so every time I consider it. So undeserving too.......but that is God's love for me, and not only me, but also for all those who would call on His name. His mercy is great, and He is longsuffering , not willing that any should perish. If only all would go to Him.

I think that God's love extends to christians and non christians alike; everyone is chosen for something. Everyone is loved and has a purpose. Instead of exalting ourselves, we should exalt God's love for all humanity. Perhaps that is really what we are chosen for...

I have thought about this many times over the years..and am still amazed.. I always wonder...why me? (I really do). I am thankful beyond words.
Every day I thank him for his mercy and grace..If not for God,I would have died many years ago,in sin and without hope.

That's not nice. Another example of why Christians tend to push me away from organized religion....
YOU choose God. God helps and loves you. He doesn't make people and then not choose them. We ALL can go to him.

He chose all of us, but not all have accepted as we see on R&S.
Remember, He desires that none should perish but that all should have everlasting life. Doesn't that refute those who say He created them just to send them to HELL.
I am one who accepted His call on my life.
