Nobody has an 8-octave range. That's impossible.
Mariah sang her highest notes ever in the live performances of Emotions at the MTV VMAs and the Grammies. It was around F7#.
Mariah has a couple of notes more than a 4-octave range.
People usually say that she has a "5-octave range" but this "5-octave range" is mostly used for people who can sing C7 and up.

Mariah's got an amazing voice. She's got like an 8 octave range. She's like, the best female singer ever!

As high as they can make it go after they plug it into the computer and mess with it. Don't deny it, basically all recording artists nowadays computerize their voices at least a little.

high enough that when I was listening to her in the car with the windows rolled down my garage opened up because the sound was so high. That's really really high. But I think lots of the stuff now is all done-up with computers.

at the mtv awards and on arsenio hall (as well as on her cd), she hit a G#7 (g sharp in the seventh octave). this is unheard of in live performance for anyone but adam lopez and georgia brown can hit higher.

the "she has eight octaves" claim is unfounded. that's humanly impossible. she can scale every note from the second octave TO the eight octave, giving her FIVE octaves.

look to *fly like a bird*, *to the floor*, the very end of *mine again* for extra high notes. (for mine again, you have to listen really hard at the end.)

i love her!
