No, one can only deduce. Magi, members of a priestly clan, (not necessarily wise), visited King Herod asking for directions to Bethlehem, and perhaps paying a "toll" for safe travel. The bright star may have been a comet, may have been a conjunction of two existing stars, but generally thought to be exceptionally bright. As stars were the first GPS system, it would have made sense for them to follow it if indeed it was in the same direction as Bethlehem. All sorts of explanations have been created, deduced and just made up to explain how these rich men found the infant Jesus in his poor surroundings. May-be some of them are true? But can any one explain the relationship...? What relationship? Do you think the Magi symbolically represent some-thing?

The star was either a comet or a superior conjunction between Saturn and Jupiter. The wise men were from the East; where astrology would have been used to predict the birth of a "King"

IT was a directional star. They were to follow it and it would lead them to the Messiah.

When they were in company with Herod, you will notice that the star dissappeared and did not appear again until they were out of the town and back into the country on their way to Bethlahem.

The wise men were just that, wise men from different parts of the earth, seeking to find the Messiah that they had been told was born. They brought with them different gifts for the Messiah, whom would have been about 18 months old at the time that they actually found him.
The gifts themselves were a bit odd for a baby or young toddler, but the gifts represent things that were to come.

I told my kids that the wise men were our modern day version of Santa Clause. But, truth be told, Jesus CHrist had the birthday, we got the greatest gift of all.

The star and the wise men are "proof" that it was a real event observed by people of other religions who honored Jesus even at birth.

The star that appeared that the Magi followed to Jerusalem was put there by Satan in an attemp to have the infant Jesus killed. Jesus was about two years old when they found him and he was living in a house.
