If it is from show lines, all the genetic tests were done, the parents are AKC registered and in full conformation, and you are planning to show the dog, then it is reasonable. Other than that, I think it is too much.

NO WAY!!!! The only yorkie that should cost this much is something like a Westminster Champion. I've never even seen a show dog, an excellent specimen of the breed, sell for that much. You are being taken by some idiot breeder. Are they saying this dog is a teacup? They're just trying to rip you off and sell you some malformed runt of the litter. There is no reason a yorkie would ever cost this much, especially if this is just a pet quality dog. You could find a decent pet for 500 or less. Maybe 1000 at a top quality reputable breeder. Do your research and keep looking.

If you are not planning to show then yes $3000 is way to much. You can find a very good quality yorkie for much less. You need to search for more breeders and visit more breeders before you buy.
How do they keep their dogs--kenneled or in the house as family members? Family members preferably.
Is the place clean and are the dogs clean and well groomed? Not necessarily show groomed but nice hair coat (long or clipped either way), no matts, etc.
Have they been checked by a vet? Vaccines and dewormers started? Are the parents up to date and current on their vaccines?
A breeder who properly takes care of their adult dogs and puppies may ask for more to help cover the cost of expenses. A breeder who doesn't do any of the things listed above just wants money.
Either way show or pet quality I do think $3000 is a little high, in my opinion. Good Luck

NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
There are so many Yorkies that could use a home, you'd be surprised how many Christmas and birthday present Yorkies wind up needing to be rehomed. Sometimes breeders need to place puppies that arent show quality or need to reduce kennel size. Please try harder to find a more affordable Yorkie and please consider getting an older Yorkie that might need a home. And then take some of the money you were going to spend and donate it to a rescue organization or your local pound who would really appreciate the help. $1000 would buy SO MUCH dog food or help pay for medical bills from rescued animals.
$3000 is outrageous for a puppy you arent going to show.
Think about.
Good luck!

For a pet quality puppy, I wouldn't pay that much ever.
I would check out some dog shows and talk to some of the people showing yorkies and ask them about their dogs.

I think that is a high price for a dog. It is reasonable if the yorkie has show dog relatives. If you do not plan on having a show dog you can find a yorkie for a cheaper price.

yorkies are generally more expensive dogs they range from $600-5000 but only with all papers. also if she is going to be a pet i wouldnt pay more than a $1000. make sure to get a reputable breeder and dont buy from a petstore. also make sure you dont get talked into a "tea cup" dog there is no such thing. it is unhealthy for dogs to be too small and the breeder is just trying to make a HUGE profit. also "tea cups" tend to be unhealthy they have shruken livers and will generally be sick. if you have your heart set on a yorkie why not try a yorkie rescue or even petfinder.com

Way to much unless this is a proven show dog. Even if its show quality thats too much. For a quality yorkie puppy with champ sire and dam and bloodlines $1500. And the breeder should be doing health testing on sire and dam (OFA hearts, CERF-eye and any other hereditary diseases), sell with a pet-spay/nueter contract, or a show contract, health guarantee, return/rehome policy, extensive pedigree and more.

Well, it is a little bit high, but, as long as the puppy is what you are looking for, then, I say that you should go for it!
Make sure that the dog:
fits your lifestyle= make sure that you have enough time to walk with him each day, he is aloud in your appartment, condo ect., he is good with kids (if you have kids, or young family members), is a good watch dog, and over all, is what you are looking for in a puppy.
If you are having second thoughts on the dog, you can always say no, or go to a different breeder. You never know, you might find the perfect yorkie at a rescue or a shelter! They are A LOT cheaper there, and, they tend to be a little bit more nicer, plus, you are saving a life!
I hope that this helps! If you have any questions, or, if you need a list of rescue groups or shelters in your area, you can email me at: pethelper4@yahoo.com! Thanks, and good luck!

I can't believe that even a show quality Yorkie would cost that much! But, if you have fallen in love and are able to pay that much go for it. But I think it is WAY too much money for a puppy.

I would say that if you have the money and your in love with the puppy to buy it but be aware that you are wasting a lot of money I would check the Humaine Society because you might not know it but millions of dogs need a good home becuase of Animal Abuse or Hurricanes and they have been lost. If you do decide to adopt a dog from the Humaine Society the prices range from $120-$1500 dolaars thoses are resonable prices!! You can spend the other $1000 dollars on the pets suppies toys and food!!
