The cost depends on the funeral home that you use and the arrangements that you choose (i.e. burial vs. cremation, etc.). As for the money that goes to the church, again it depends on the church. They all have different amounts that they charge for letting you use the space for the religious service. Your best bet is to shop around.

The funeral home is where the expense of a funeral comes in . If one is a member of a church the only person that is paid (and usually is just a donation to the church)is the clergy person and that is about $300.00 more or less depending on the denomination of the church.

What a ridiculous question, the church gets nothing, it all goes to the funeral home. If there is a cost to the church, it's the same rental fee as weddings and other occasions, it pays to keep the lights on, security, etc.

The main cost of a funeral is the casket, burial plot and funeral home expenses.

By your final part , I assume you think churches try to profit from sacraments. They don't. I say this in general for all out of generosity, but I claim it absolutely for Catholicism.
If a funeral mass is needed for a church member, they get it at no cost.
The church does not sell caskets or burial plots. Nor can they charge for any holy, blessed or sacred thing , be it material or spiritual.

About a $100- 150 goes for the mass. They say that it's the last time that person makes a donation.
