You sound tired? Are (they) (we) wearing you down?

If you would consider what faith means to me you would know that faith is not used to "overcome" reason or logic. In reading many of the answers here in the past year; I can, nontheless, see your point; even if you put me in the same batch!

Belief is nothing but the willingness to act upon an idea or concept. You will not find this in Webster's. You will find it in Heb. 11 verse 6 (forget the first sentence about faith). You will also find this definition among such thinkers as James and Dewey in the old American school of philosophy called Pragmatism.

I include belief because, in general use and in Webster's, there is little or no difference in the definition of belief and faith. Here is the crux. You cannot have faith until you have proved, at least by personal experience, that what you believe will work. At this point many Christians with no proven beliefs; just grunt harder and call it faith. Just exactly what you see in your question.

In the Bible belief and faith are, in some contexts, two different things. In other places these words are used as synonyms. Few know the difference. Belief is a mental function, faith is an emotional function; coupled with intuition. Faith is a spiritual ability to bring hope into existence.and discern spiritual things manifesting in two dimensions.

Faith has nothing to do with affirmations, so-called most holy faith's, creeds, dogmas, or great and wonderful human religions and traditions.

Belief is a human mental function, faith is a human spiritual function. And that is the name of that tune.

Faith is commonly accepted to be a belief that cannot be proven. Reason is the practice that demonstrates logic. The objects of faith may be found as reasonable as matters of fact are questionable, it is precisely its uncertainty that really interests the Christian. The Christian generally loves the wisdom (reason and logic) in all things, but more precisely the wisdom of the One from Whom all things come. The faith presupposes that God created all therefore all "truth" is God's truth.

faith doesn't overcome reason and logic, it supports it and allows it to exist.

if you didn't have faith in what you deemed logical, how could you see the world from that perspective? Imagine, you have to have faith that most people will stop at a red light. if you don't have that faith, you would be afraid every time you accelerated through an intersection. you have to have faith in your body that it will maintain balance as you walk or run.

For those of us who believe in God and follow Him, he has given us the evidence that he is true by acting in our lives and providing us a history of his actions. Faith is simply believing that something you have seen to be true will be true again. If you truly try search for evidence of God, then test it, you may be surprised in what you find.

I believe in God deeply, but I can understand what you are saying.Much of what is taught and preached defies all logic and common sense. If something doesn't make sense its because its not sensible. Not all religions believe this way.I hate to use an analogy because none are 100% accurate. But here goes.ITS like in basic math we are taught that negative numbers have no square roots. Once we move on to higher levels of math we learn they do indeed have square roots.perhaps you have listened to basic religious beliefs and formed your opinions. I would have to arrive at the same conclusion you have, however there are higher levels of spiritual thought and instruction that might make more sense to you.

Most people get theirs from public education. People who learn to think for themselves often investigate several different religions before choosing one that makes sense to them (and some will choose to be agnostic or atheist as well).

Lets face facts here, a lot of what you believe is "fact" is just theory. There's a reason it's still called theory, and that's because there is insufficient evidence or proof to change it into a law. You take just as much on faith as any religious person does...you just call it "agreeing with the majority" instead of faith.

Remove yourself from your high horse and get to know some Christians. Many of us are surprisingly intelligent and reasonable people.

You have to be brain dead to believe that the god is two males who had sexual relations and made humans. Which one had the womb I wonder? Is there anyone born of a man? That special kind of faith is called self deception, or ignoring unpalatable truths.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

2 Timothy 2:15

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: "

By believing that faith is more adept at reason and logic...if it comes from the right faith, that is.

I am a logical thinker (engineer, math & science teacher) as well as a Christian. I think it is illogical and arrogant to think we are the highest level of being imaginable. You worship at the alter of the human intellect -- "If I can't understand it, it can't be so".

Try to open your mind (I sincerely hope you do).
