Easy. Buy a small water pistol, not a blaster. Give the little bugger a squirt every time he nips you. He'll learn in about 30 secs and then you can dispense with the pistol. You may need to reenforce it a second day, but it never takes more than 2 days.

Ummm, bite it back . . . then again, that might defeat the purpose. :) I'm just kidding about biting it back. When a cat bites you, it can be serious, so I've learned this week, after receiving a nasty bite from a rescued stray mama cat. Their mouths are disgusting- something like 54 different bacteria in those things. You can get a serious infection from a cat bite. Just an fyi . . .

As for how to stop it from biting you, two of our cats are always giving us love nibbles, and sometimes, that love can turn to pain real quick!! I cured one of them- I know this will sound so mean- by flicking her in the nose whenever she went to bite me. She stopped that after about three or four flicks. Now she just rubs her face on me.

I hate to say it, but I haven't cured the other one. He still attacks my feet and bites my ankles when I walk by. I'd kick him across the room but I'm a lover not a fighter . . .

So, I guess I don't have a clue what to tell you, except if you find out the answer, let me know!! :)

If it is still pretty young, your in luck. If it is a little older, it may be a little more difficult. Every time your cat bites you, gently flick it in the nose and say a firm NO. Just don't flick too hard and don't scream the NO. Do this every time he bites and it should work. If it doesn't, its time for the next level. If you have a small squirt bottle, whenever he bites, lightly spray him on his neck and say a firm NO. Do not spray him too much. These two should work. Hope I helped! Good luck!!

Cats do not bite for a defense but often learn to bite from rough play as kittens. Whenever it bites you, you must be playing with it or it is signaling to you that it wants to play. Simply give a sharp NO! and turn your attention away from it. When it approches you in a way that does not involve biting pet it and reward it with a treat or whatever it's asking for.

Purchase some biter spray fromyour petstore in the dog area. Put it on a piece of fabric. Allow her to bite it while it is near the person she likes to bite. she will soon associate bitting with a bad taste and wont do it near or to the person she is bitting. Good luck!

I now what your going through my cats were the same. Here is what you do..
Find out what is causing her biting problem try getting her more comfortable with the problem. Note that she may bite!!
When she bites hit her gently on her rear end with your hand. Note don't hit her really hard because that would be Animal Cruelty!!
If she countinues contact your vet andask him What you could do to stop the biting.

If there is a baby in the house, or a child, get rid of the cat to protect your children. Otherwise, squirt guns are the most effective way to train cats. they hate water. Another thing, cats love your adoration, by nature, so if you ignore them for a while afterwards, (not talking at all to her, don't even let her brush up on you), she should get the hint. i have had cats all my life!

You either hold their mouth closed, when they bite, and say no firmly or you can just tap them on the nose and say no firmly. You must do it right away and be consistant and firm- they will get to know your tone of voice.
