As a wiccan,my deity is Hades.I have read texts on net and various opinions from others, considering Hades as an evil god.I don't really believe that...how could he be evil?Or is it because he is the lord of the underworld?I have seen christians saying Hades=Satan, etc. But they are two different persons. So,what do you think about it?

Persephone liked him after awhile - did they ever have little godlings? I forget

Plus he was the god of money - hence plutocrat is derived from him - and nobody likes a banker lol

Hades isn't Evil. They only made him look like that in the disney movies. He's really a good guy. He sometimes give heroes a Break like he did Orpheus when he when to the Underworld to get his wife back. But he did tell Him to not look back before he leave the Underworld. But Orpheus' Love was too strong he thought Hades had tricked him or something so he Looked back anyway. So Hades is pretty much a good guy when he want to be. He just misunderstood. He just hates his job that all. You try working in the Underworld and working with Dead people 24/7. If It was Me I think It would be really Cool working for Hades and Gliding Lost souls to the Underworld. Hades is still a Good guy. He do torture evil souls who had done many wrongs in their Life. But there is a place in the Underworld which is like a Heaven for Heroes. So Hades is nice when he want to be. as long you don't pissed him off or anything like that.

yes, i think it's that association: i.e., the underworld=hell and therefore hades=satan. Or it could be just because that is not Christianity.

Anyway the reason they think of him as an evil god is because they don't know much about the mythology. Hades (the place) is not only the punishing place, it's also the Elysian Fields (or whatever they're called), which can be compared to Heaven.

The only thing i've read about Hades' personality is that he wasn't the nicest person all the time, but he was fair. So he wasn't a total asshole. But you know what he totally kidnapped Persephone just cos she was eating a pomegranate and that is just not cool.

It's all ignorance, and propaganda against the pagan religions. Lucifer is not really another name for satan, but is a roman god which means morning star, or bearer of light. Hades is the greek god of the under world, and lord of the dead. Both good and evil people would go to hades after death. It seem that some think that if something isnt of their religion, it's from the devil.

Hades is equated with evil for the same reason Hel is. Originally Hel was a Northern European Goddess of the Underworld. Another lie told by the church for over 2000 years.

Yeah, I'm Catholic, but I don't take Hades as Satan. Two are of different contexts. Like Bush and Blaire.

People just associate the Underworld with Hell and then mistake its caretakers as the same.

There just hasn't been much education about Greek Mythology as to the Christian faith.

I think you got it in your details. Hades is the lord of the Underworld. Unfortunately a lot of people don't have an understanding of the Greek Underworld and don't realize that it's divided into Tartarus (very naughty people), the Elysian Fields (good people), and the Isles of the Blest (really good people). I know there's a middle category but I can't remember it. Also, I think the Disney movie Hercules contributed to it since they made the character of Hades evil. Of course they got a lot wrong in the movie, but I digress.

many people just haven't researched it the way you have, and yes, they do assume that because he is the lord of the underworld, that's basically hell. don't worry about idiots, beleive whatever you think is right for you.

Satan isn't really one being in particular -- it means "adversary" in Hebrew...so it could be anybody/thing against God.

And the bottom line answer to your question is "Ignorance."
