Also, is it a continual thing? Do you have to do it forever, or is it a one time thing? If it is continual, is it worth it? And does anyone have a program that has worked for them?

There is one program that helped me a lot, although my prescription wasn't high. I had astigmatism and myopia (-1.0). I did exercises every day for two months and went to an eye doctor. He was puzzled with the improvement and still is. I still continue to do them for about once a week. And it was definately worth it!

I don't know to what extent they can help with higher prescription, but my opinion is that it can't hurt to try.

Hope this helps!

The theory is, the longer you wear your glasses, the weaker and more dependent upon the lenses. They say if you try to go without glasses, you can train your eye muscles to strengthen and not need your glasses as much. BUT if you already have poor eyesight, its much safer for you and those around you if you just wear your glasses as your doctor prescribed. Yes your prescription will continue to get worse. But do you want to sacrifice your personal safety for vanity? If you really hate the specs, see if you can get contact lenses or qualify for lasik surgery.

There are quite a number of vendors who make money selling "exercise programs" with the promise of being able to throw away your glasses. They are all scams.

You can check the yahoo group "i-see" or go to the site http://www.iblindness.org/ for free discussion of various techniques. You will notice that most of those posting have been doing various exercises for years with little results.

i have heard the same thing, some sort of excersies you have to look at things really close up, then far away, etc
i bet though if it worked everyone would do it and nobody would need glasses
