I'm 23, almost 24, & when a teenager is talking about me, he/she might say, "That lil' girl over there...". I wonder if I'm gonna be called, "Lil' girl" when I'm 65 yrs. old. Is it because I look young & people say I have a baby face? Is it because I'm mentally handicapped? What is it? & they KNOW I'm 23! & they don't respect me & they treat me like I'm their equal. Like, I'm 23, & a 14 yr. old would refer to me as, "Lil' girl", saying, "Lil' girl, you're crazy & need help!"

I know what you mean. I just turned 34 and people think I am like 16. A few years ago I was taking a class at the local collage and one guy kept called me "girl." At first I was flattered. Then after a couple days it started getting on my nerves. So I turned and looked him in the eye and said "I have a name and its not girl." and I walked away. It got him to stop calling me girl.

People do not raise their children to have respect for each other, for adults, for anyone really. This is for the disrespectful ones. Other teens who just refer to you as little girl (without disrespecting you) may actually think you are as young as they are. You probably have a fun and young attitude about you too which can make one seem young.

You are not alone. Me too experiencing that and i think that's a compliment to look younger than your real age. The bad thing is there are disadvantages if you look younger than your age. Some of my admirer didnt court me because they think that iam too young for them, they didnt know that iam just as old as them.

I even experienced an old woman called me a liar when i told her my real age but i couldnt blame her for that.

Just enjoy being looking young, other people spends thousands of money for them to look younger.

It is either a term of endearment or a reproach telling you to act your age.

If you are hanging out with teens and attempting to act like a teen, probably the latter.

Life goes on and there are even better things ahead. One can't be a teenager forever!

Settle down! It's just a term of endearment. Accept the compliment and don't read it as a value judgment on your appearance.
