I don't know what Christians you've been talking to - all the Christians I know (and I'm not one) think no such thing.
They accept that Muslims simply have a different name for God.

I'm sure most will find it as annoying as I do, even offensive, that you've used your question to criticize THEIR beliefs & promote your own as more valid.

Then again - what the hey - obviously, Christians are pretty fond of doing exactly the same thing.

The militaristic nature of Islam, and the fact there WAS already a pagan male Moon-god called Allah (who had 3 daughters, Al-lat, Al-Uzza and Manaat) in the culture of the pre-Islamic Sabataean Arabs, suggests that the foundation of Islam was not some victory for monotheism, but the pagan god of the Quray'sh tribe, Muhammad's tribe, winning out over the gods of any other tribe and imposing sole worship of "Allah". That's why there is the moon-symbol in the flags of so many Muslim nations; it's a carry-over of pagan worship. Plus, it's not an all-powerful God who's everywhere but a highly specific god in a place that all must face when they pray, a closed house in Mecca where the idol of Allah the Moon-God still exists. It's idolatry, but to keep people from realizing it, the local clerics of Allah in Mecca have kept the idol in a big box that almost nobody is allowed to enter.

If you go even further, Islam started with a meteorite. When meteorites fall in the desert they don't get lost in the bushes, they are conspicuous, can be found, and are then venerated as holy. It was thought this meteorite was a piece of the moon. But in the ancient past everything was thought to have a spirit, so the meteorite must have a Moon-god in it. Eventually this developed into the concept of Allah, as Muslims understood it.

I refer to 'rj' answers.i quoted wat he said;

" I think muslims worship a god, but not the same God I worship, and not the true living God. The true living God sent His only begotten Son to earth to be our Passover Lamb for all eternity. The muslim god did not do that, and no muslim will say their god did do that. So, that means it's a different god they worship."

My answers:
Firstly, there is ONE and ONLY god which is Allah. But other religions have worshipped Him in the wrong way...Now u can try and ponder over this...IF god HAS a son, then wudn't that makes Him equals as human beings? Because human beings get married and give birth too...isnt it? SO have u ever asked urself why are u worshipping a god that has an equal status as us? right?

in the Qur'an, Surah Al-ikhlas, verse 1 to verse 4: it is stated as follows;

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

He is Allah the One and Only; (1) Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; (2) He begetteth, not nor is He begotten; (3) And there is none like unto Him. (4)

This proves that there's ONLY one god that created the universe. There is no 2 or 3...He did not give birth nor he was borned.

Simple illustration...Imagine one person baking a cake. IF one or two more person joined hands in baking a cake with that first person...wat do u think would happened to the cake? Is the cake gonna taste and look nice? No...So there couldn't be more than one god in creating the universe. So like i said...Allah is the only god exists but other religion have worshipped Him the wrong way.

and i also notice people often mention the muslims' holy book as Koran...the right word shud be Qur'an. Spelling the wrong word shows how ignorant these people are and they have no respect for other religion.

I believe Muslims worship God. I don't believe people that blow up innocent people, worship God. I believe Christians worship God. I don't believe people that use Christianity for there own, greed, power, and to push people apart, rather then bring them together, worship God.

Most Christians believe that Muslims worship a different God and that the God they serve is not the true and only living God. And that there is only one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jesus. Basically alah is not the same God of the Bible. Regardless if the word "allah" means god that would be comprable to claiming that Gene Simmons is God when someone said "Gene you are a rock god"

P.S. as i read the other answers i have to say that most of you are wrong alah is not the God of Abraham, he is the God of Ishmael Abrahams first born son.(see Genesis) alah is NOT the God of Abraham's second son Isaac, which is the son that God spoke of to Abraham when God said Abraham would have so many decendants that they would number the stars in the sky (those decendants here are the Jews through which our savior Jesus came) Jesus and the rest of the Jews came from the blood line of Abraham and Sarah, not Abraham and Hagai (Ishmael's mother) which is why:

1)The Muslims and Jews detest each other so much because they have been fighting over Abraham's land for over 2000 years, and its also why:

2) alah is a false God, because he is not from the true bloodline which God chose to bless and use to bring about his plan.

there is a significant group of christians who do not believe that muslims worship God.

because christians believe in the revelation of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We also believe that Jesus was not just a prophet, but actually GOD THE SON, revealed to mankind.

We also believe in the Old Testament, that ISAAC, not Ishamael, was the one offered to God, for sacrifice, which God later withdrew His command.

Allah, the muslim deity, is one, and not revealed in 3 forms. also, Allah, in the quran is not the COMPLETE, PEFECT expression of love.

God in the Bible, is revealed in 3 forms, and IS the LOVE, complete, and perfect, as in 1 JOHN, where it says, "GOD IS LOVE."

Another point would be the crucifixion of Jesus. Muslims DO NOT believe in the crucifixion of Jesus, but the crucifixion is the very key of our faith, and the key to salvation, which the death and resurrection of Jesus guarantees us salvation.

so if we have so many CORE differences, how can the God we each believe in, be the same?

people who say we believe in the same God are very ignorant of what the Quran and the Bible teaches.

for me, only One of us can be right, either Jehovah, or Allah.

I don't think any one person is qualified to speak on behalf of how Christians view Muslims. Naturally, each person, Christian or not, has their own opinions about different things, including those that follow the faith of Islam.

I believe that this 'question' is not really a question seeking answers, but only a feeble attempt to stir religious disagreements for whatever reason the asker is motivated by.

The definition of God is the problem. Each religion believes in their own style of God. Man has made the representation of what their God is supposed to be like. We haven't had the small world that we have today but just a short while. Before travel and communications became easy with our modern times, people stayed to themselves and developed their own religions.
In history, when contrary religions came in contact with one another, the stronger one decided that the weaker or conquered needed to be converted. This is the history of the world and religions. It is still that way today. The teachings of one are not the beliefs of another and, therefore, are wrong! Talks become discussions, debates, arguments..... violence!
How ironic to believe in a peaceful, loving God and kill others to convert them to your God's way of thinking.
The sad thing is for people to believe that a God or deity would want you to convert all to your religion or kill them.
I give thanks to my God that our martyrs were killed and not suicidal maniacs that murdered innocents around them.
True religious believe in God - religious radicals from all sides use their extreme interpretations to their own benefit, not their God's.
Above answer: Polytheists that you describe are not Catholics. God is still number one. Mary and the saints are not considered deity, but an avenue to pray thru for assistance to have our prayers reach God. Some of us need all the help we can get.

I think that you worship a god, but just not the Christian God.

Your god is only one person, Allah, the Christian God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
