Possessed is a strong term.
The Biblical term used to describe someone under the influence of a demon does not generally mean possessed.
Often it is expressed by the verb daimonizomai, which means literally "demonized".
It means to be afflicted by or tormented by a demon, just like someone might be afflicted with seizures or small pox.
As to your question, yes, I believe a child or someone with a physical or mental disability can be afflicted by a demon. Satan is a dirty dog and he preys on the weak and helpless. Find a minister of the Gospel who understands how to minister deliverance. I might recommend a book on the subject if you are serious about this called "Pigs in the Parlor", by Frank Hammond.

No, I don't think that would happen. I think a demon's purpose to enter someone's body is to make use of their mental faculties. The person being possessed would be fighting against the demon because he would be able to discern that whatever is happening with or without his control is wrong.
The whole point would be to put someone into spiritual and physical turmoil.
Someone who's mentally handicapped wouldn't have the discerning ability. Their brains are developmentally challenged which is a characteristic of a mentally handicapped person, thus they have not developed the ability to process what is right and what is wrong thereby eliminating the whole idea or purpose of demonic possession.

I don't think it's very likely, in my opinion.

Yes, they can be 'demon possessed' ... but since they are being 'like a child' they tend to be 'protected' from demon possession by Christ ... and you could tell because they would be 'docile and friendly' then after the 'demon' took over, they'd be very violent and angry-seeming. How a person 'gets' a demon inside them, I really don't know ... I know I have God's protection, so they've never 'bothered' with me.

Defining mental disorder as `Demonic possession` should be an imprisonable offence. Allowing superstitious fools to diagnose medical conditions must be avoided at all costs. Keep children far away from such people and use only educated medical opinion, from trained professionals.

i think of that those non secular human beings may be experiencing what are universal as demonic assaults instead of demonic possessions. i individually went by way of such an attack myself and grow to be interior the psych ward and grow to be placed on drugs for psychological ailment. yet i grow to be no longer totally possessed by using fact I nonetheless had volitional administration of my physique. yet I did hear voices mocking me and experienced loopy issues. it particularly is a lot greater probable for a Christian to be attacked by way of demons than a non-Christian, by using fact Christians are the demons/ devil's enemies.
