People that are against it usually don't have children, or only have one or two kids, or if they have more, they have big age gaps.
Parenting is a humbling experience people. Don't ever judge others as you could be in that situation one day. You don't know other people's circumstances. I agree with you 100%, I'll do whatever it takes to keep my kids safe. I'm not concerned with what other people think or how I look.

I've never used one personally. I wouldn't be rude to someone who does I guess. It's a parent's choice and it's very safe. I saw some cute ones just the other day in the store that is a stuffed animal back pack with the little leash coming off it.
I've been in crowded places and I have a 2 year old that loves to wander. It's my job as a parent to keep up after her. My eyes are on my kids at all times. And they know to behave. We were in a crowded air port once and I wished I had something better than the stroller with me because she was running around and then once I put her in the stroller she screamed. She and her older sister have been taught to hold my hand at all times or to always hold onto the stroller.

I agree! I can understand where people may think it is inhumane, after all on first glance it is a reminder of the way people treat animals. But once I started thinking about it,,,,the harness provides more mobility and more freedom than holding the childs hand and or using a stroller! None of those things are considered inhumane. They are just saftey mesures and as you stated as long as your not yanking your kid around I see no reason why they should not be used.
Best of luck!

I am totally up for a harness...and yes,a kid leash, is a worse way of putting it but I had to use one for my oldest daughter until she learned that she could not run off in a store...ecspecially since I have an almost 3 week old baby that I take with us to the store...there is just too many pervs and other people that are lookin to snatch kids up for their own personal needs to let your kid roam free in a store or anywhere else for that matter. I used one with my oldest daughter for a month and a half until she finally realized that she had to walk with mommy or she would have to wear that cause I'll be damned if someone snatches my kids up without a fight. So honestly I don't think anything is wrong with them because I am very protective of my children and I'd rather have some asshole come up and preach to me about how harnesses are wrong and all that bull then my daughters run off one time and I never see them again because that is all it takes is one time and they r gone...so like I said earlier I am all for a harness when it comes to keeping my children safe!

I think they are fine to use. Sometimes they may look a little inhumane but it makes things a lot safer. I once heard someone explain it like this that had a dog . . . I take my dog for walks and always put the dog on a leash cause I love my dog and don't want it to run out in traffic or get separated from me. I put a leash on my dog cause I want to protect him and I love him. I would hope that a parent or whoever would love their child tons more than an animal so why wouldn't they want their child to be in as safe of an environment.

I used to think this is unhuman. But since i have a kid, i totally agree. My little boy is 8 month old and is crowling. I can loose him even in the house since i have to bring him back sometimes from under the bed or behind a closet. Imagine what will happen to him when he'll be walking if we go to a crowlded place. Our love for our kids should tell us to protect them the more we can. I agree with the idea of holding their hand but use the harness in case.

They're not inhumane, just silly. If you're that paranoid about taking your child to public places, then don't take them out at all. Seriously, you can have almost anything, including groceries, delivered right to your doorstep. There's really no reason at all that you can't keep your child safely locked away from all of the dangers lurking around every corner.
Life is risky. Get over it.

I have three children and I don't have one of those harness thingies, but last year I wish I had one... My two year old was following one of those little remote controlled ambulance cars that talk to you and squirt water on you.. The crowd was huge and all of a sudden my son was gone. We found him after fifteen minutes of being scared and crying.. We had everyone looking for him.. But after we found him, my husband said we needed one of those harness things so this will never happen again... So, the people who say those are inhumane, must of never had this happen to them, or they don't have kids.. And yes, they can say that they keep a good eye on their children so it will never happen to them, but so do I.. I watch their every move and I still lost my child.

I have used the corded "leash" for my son when we went to really crowed places that I was very nervous that he would explore to far away from me. Kids need to be safe and danger lurks around all places. I did use it in malls but I live in a small community so we didn't do the mall thing that often.
what works for your family or thier family concerns are is all that is needed

I Don't Have A Problem With It At All...
IF It's In A Super Crowded Place, Like Six Flags Or Disney Land Or Something... But Not In A Mall...
