Entirely too much. Think about the farms where beef, pork and chicken are raised specifically to be slaughtered (I got a whiff of one of those trucks passing through my neighborhood this morning . . . downright nasty stuff). Whatever happened to the good old days, when meals were not packaged in styrofoam and plastic, and families had to go out and sow and reap with their own hands, creating a natural balance, rather than pure destruction?
I do believe there is a difference between destroying for the masses, and killing that which has been provided by the Universe to sustain us.
Now, as far as insects go . . . eeeuuuuuu . . . I have a feeling that is part of the reason why I could not make it as a Buddhist!

We certainly try to meet some kind of standard. Most people work at it pretty hard. Do you pull weeds in the yard, trim branches off the trees or cut the grass? Fertilize the yard. Do you kill ants, bugs, termites, lice, cockroaches? How about that big juicy tomato worm that ate your plant? I firmly believe we would save lives if people took time out of their busy week to kick back and stop breathing for about an hour. If everyone did that there would be a phenomenal decrease in CO2 emissions. A little charcoal in the diet will reduce methane in the air. If everyone will comply with these ideas there will be no problems. As to how much do we destroy per day? My answer is X to the power of infinity

personally speaking, the canadian goose i ran over today (which blew out its' innards ALL over the road) was extremely satisfying. I do make it a policy to stop for ducks...
