I applied frontline plus to my dog on June 25, I was told that if i wash my dog the shampoo will wash off the medicine, unless the shampoo was specifically meant to be used with frontline. I had to wash it off my dog, because we thought she was having an allergic reaction to it, but we found out that it was something different. Is it safe to put the frontline on her again, because I saw a few fleas on her. Serious answers only please.

Who told you the shampoo would wash off the medicine? Frontline is absorbed into the skin after you put it on the animal. So washing your dog will not remove the Frontline. Don't put any more Frontline on your dog until it is time to. It has already absorbed the recommended amount. You will see a few fleas if she had a major infestation, but they will die or be dead when you find them. Keep on your schedule and don't use anything else or your dog could become very ill.

How soon after applying the Frontline did you wash your dog? I've always heard that once it's been on for 24 hours or so, it's fine to wash your dog.
It's almost been a month, so I think you're fine applying it again. But remember, just because you see a flea or two doesn't mean it's a problem. The fleas have to jump ON the dog in order to be killed, after all.
I'd recommend spraying your property with a flea/ insect killer also. I do this about once a month in the summer (in the evenings after the dogs have been out for that last time). It keeps the yard free of fleas, mosquitos, etc., and only costs about $10 at Home Depot. My neighbors pay $50 a month for an exterminating company to spray once a month.

Frontline is absorbed into the fat layer so unless the bath is right away, will not wash off although the plus part is a flea egg growth inhibiter and I don't know if that stays on the surface or not (although I doubt it - wouldn't do much good in one spot). That belief probably came from the old style spot-ons like Bio-Spot that require special shampoos to prevent wash-off (plus the pyrmitheran part absorbs into the blood). As far as re-applying, follow the directions or consult with your vet.

You can apply frontline every three weeks as needed. When your dog is on frontline, you can get them wet, it does lessen the effectivness of the product to a degree.
You are at a point now, where it'll be just fine to put more frontline on your dog.
What happened that made you think your dog was have an allergic reaction?

I was told by my groomer that you should wait 3 days after applying Frontline before bathing because it needs to be absorbed. After 3 days it is suppose to be good for a month before reapplying. It also works better if your dog isn't "squeaky clean" because it depends on the oil in the animals skin to be absorbed correctly. I have used this product for years and have had good luck with it. So wait 3 days after applying before bathing and don't apply for 3 days AFTER a bath so that some of the natural oils have returned to the animals coat. Also it won't repel fleas but it kills them after they get on the animal when the flea bites the animal. So if your dog is constantly being reinfested with fleas it will appear that the product isn't working. You need to treat your home, the animals bedding and your yard. A lot of trouble but they are worth it! Hope this helps.

Yes. Frontline Plus safe enough to apply every 3 weeks - as long as you're sure it wasn't the Frontline she had a reaction to.

I have been told that frontline is water proof, even during a bath. This year down in FL though, the fleas are so bad they are recommending that you double dose your animals.....so, I think you would be fine to put a new treatment on her.

I was told the same thing and put the front line on again on my dog and it made everything smell bad for a long time and he got a rash from it. I would just wait a month and see if your pup gets fleas.
