I am about to buy a 16 year old house and planned to live in it for at least 5 years. I want to redo the kitchen (cabinets, appliances, granite) and change the original tile floor throughout the main level to harwood. Any advice? Which one should I do first?

Do the floor last

Your best bet would be to put in the new cabinets and do most of the heavy work before you put any thought into the floor. You may want to take up the tile before you do any of the other work, but as far as laying new floors, wait until the bulk of the work is done. You don't want to risk dropping anything onto them before you even get to enjoy them. Especially if you are going to be putting new cabinets in. You wouldn't put the hardwood underneath the cabinets, and without having them in place beforehand, it could be difficult to fit them in later.

In the house we're building now they put the cabinets in first, then laid the hardwoods. In a previous home we built, the contractor put the hardwoods down first and placed the cabinets on them. The previous home hardwoods were not the prefinished we are doing now which could have made the difference. But I also notice that our present builder lays all the floors after the cabinets.
