I think we get married in church because we want God to bless our union. We go to the law for divorce because we want to get out of our marriage and get the best deal we can on our assets. I hope everyone knows that while we are taking our wedding vows, we are also making vows before God Himself! I do hope that marriage is taken seriously and divorce is the last resort!

Not everyone is married in the church but every legal marriage is registered in the state in which it occurs. The marriage is a holy union. It is a covenant between the husband, wife and God.
Although, people go to the law to divorce the word of God clearly states that no man can put assunder (or tear apart) what God has put together.
People do not go to God for divorce because God does not like divorce. He only allowed it because of the hardening of hearts and it is only permissable in the case of adultery.

It is precisely because we get married in the Church that going to the law for a divorce accomplishes nothing. An act of God cannot be undone by an act of the state. That's why Jesus said that one who divorces their spouse and marries another commits adultery. What God has joined together no man can separate.
Of course if the wedding was nothing more than a civil contract - an act of the state - then it can be undone by an act of the state.

You don't have to get married in a church. Plenty of people are married by civil ceremony. And that has to do with law, as well.

b/c the law represents the flesh and flesh is what causes divorce..and also the church is God's house but in the Bible it says when a man finds a wife he finds something good so divorce is getting rid of that good.. but thats just my opinion

even if you get married in a church, you need to get registered in a legal office of some sort and therefor when ending your marriage you also have to dissolve it legally.
