I'm so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you're feeling.

There are no biblical answers to this question. Aside of perhaps Psalm 104. It talks of God breathing life into animals and caring for them. Same as He does for us.

Many saints of history, like Francis of Assisi and Martin de Porres felt animals are our brothers and sisters. Martin de Porres created the first pet hospital.

Pope John Paul II believed animals go to heaven. He even has his own PETA page for his teachings on animals.

I feel very sorry for the people who say animals don't have souls. They are clearly missing out on one of God's greatest gifts to us. Anyone can look into an animal's eyes and see more soul than many people carry.

First, my condolences on the loss of your beloved pet. Christianity, Islam and Judaism allow the eating of meat because those religions do not believe that animals have souls. It would seem that something without a soul can't go to heaven.
Quite honestly, I'm an atheist and don't believe there is a heaven. Your dog will live in your memories. You loved him and gave him a good life. Take comfort in that.

The Bible does not say anything about animals being in Heaven, either for or against it. The Bible does teach that in God's presence there is fullness of joy and at his right hand pleasures forevermore. So if not having you dog with you would diminish your enjoyment of Heaven then it's no big thing for God to resurrect a dog and let him or her be with you.

The words "serious" and "bible reference" do not sit well together. Your dog has been reborn as another dog, very likely the next dog you are about to buy.
