Well, being a Taoist, I like it very much!
Seriously, I like it because the Tao is the best description I've found of what I've always believed in. It speaks of wisdom, compassion, balance, harmony, understanding, and peace. It's a non-administrative religion that gives most excellent advice.
There are parts I 'got' right away; there are parts I've had to meditate on and come to understand later; there are parts I understand intellectually but haven't conscienciously put them to work yet. There are new things I understand about it all the time. There are things about it I may never understand, or understand but never become one with. There is advice that is hard to practice, and some advice that comes easily to me.
But I'm really enjoying my study of it, and I am benefiting from this spiritual path.

Just like Maoism - communal. Islam the fastest growing religion - read the Koran and decide. Have you heard about Dr. Ye who reverted to Islam?

I've read the Tao te Ching, which was interesting, but I don't know much about it as a religion/practice.

i don't know much about it. i've practiced tai chi, which i understand is based on taoist principles, but honestly it sounds like a combination of common sense and woo to me - just like any other religion.
