Does anyone believe this to be true, and if so, why - is it because women have the potential to give birth to babies who may grow up to be men who wage wars against eachother, sleep with 9 year olds and beat their wives?

Come on friends....it is not necessary to get emotional about this issue.

We have never done proper studies about overall humankind population ratio from the time of Adam to the point of the last person ever living. It could coincide that the overall ratio of women is higher compared to men in the aggregate.

The Prophet Muhammed had once indicated through his sayings (hadis), that the higher female population ratio is a sign of the end of times (qiamat). It could happen that during the final stage, women population would be more dominant in number as compared to men. It does not in any way mean to degrade the status of women. It merely highlights the incidence as proof and veracity of his (Prophet's) statement. There is no way a person (the Prophet) who had passed away around a few hundred years ago could predict this population ratio structure unless he could foresee the future.

Take a quick glance around us.... how may ladies are around as compared to number of men nowadays, in your classroom, workplace or anywhere as it matters? A quick calculation would do justice to strengthen the point. Statistically, a higher portion of the population have the higher probability to represent number of incidences. In a population full of women where men are minority, it wouldn't be fare to say that women are habitual offenders if a larger portion of inmates are represented by women.

Therefore what was really intended by the Prophet could be that of indication of present societal ratio, as a general sign to a more significant event, rather than stigmatizing particular gender.

Other signs mentioned includes the prevalence and competition among the humankind to build high rise buildings and structures, and nobody seems to bother pondering about that issue either.

These sayings do not delineate the population of women in Hell since this would be a literal interpretation; on the contrary, they just caution them that there are certain deeds which they do a lot and which, therefore, would be more instrumental in taking them to Hell; so they should avoid them. In other words, the symbolism is causative in nature.

What Prophet said that? What a load of crap....men are adults they make their own personal decisions to "wage war" and "beat their wives" their mother doesn't force them into it.

Simple: those women he saw did not listen to their husbands. They disrespected them and did not thank them.

The same goes for men as well and those men you mentioned in above.

Heaven will be empty, while 999 out of every 1000 people (men and women will go to hell)

If you look at history, you will see that men had committed 99.99.99 percent of the crimes against humanity. So it makes perfect logical sense to blame it all on the women, isn't that how the bible written 100% by men starts out?

I know where I want to go now...where there are lots of sinful women!

and by sinful I use it in the sense, that they are intelligent, independent, self confident women. Exactly the women Paul and Mohamed despised!
