If the term "sinner" applies to everyone, then why the need to accusatorily and maliciously call people sinners? For example, someone gets caught having premarital sex (shudder), then someone might say, "You immoral sinner!", "You're living in sin!" or something along those lines. Isn't it a little redundant? Why the need to differentiate between one "sinner" and another?

They only say that they are sinners too so when they condemn another person for sinning, it won't sound so judgmental. It's akin to saying "I'm not prejudiced, some of my best friends are...." right before making an inflammatory remark about that group.

Well if we make the word sinners exceptable than it would mean that society except people doing wrong now wouldn't it. No matter what we say that all people to a certain degree are sinners....it is still wrong and frown upon by soceity....we sinners must not do so again as no matter what sin is wrong.

To commit one must not feel nice.....so don't be sinners for the rest of our lives.

Well maybe that person who is having premarital sex does not realise they are sinning but lets persume that they do know as in my case and many people I know. It is only when you are saved that you have to put your old lifestyle away and concentrate on being and acting like a new person. I don't call anyone a sinner - maybe they are not as spiritually evolved as I am now - I have been there and know.

What is sometimes wrong with people is that they separate different sins. In God's eyes all sin is on a horizontal line an no matter which one you commit they all have equally the same punishment the same result; death. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. This is because all people have been born into sin because of the generational curses of Adam and Eve. I only conclude that people point out on sin over others because the one that was committed is publicly known. That is why God allows us to come unto him and confess in our secret places unto him. This is also why God alone is our ultimate judge because someone may point out the girl who sleeps with alot of men but fail to point out the people who tell "white lies". In this instance, the sexual fornicator and the liar are both just as bad. But thank God that he knows us better than we know ourselves and came as Jesus and died so we can be free from all sin and we don't have to worry about the judging of man but only whether or not we live lives pleasing to him

We interpret sin wrong first of all. The word sin is an archer's term. Anything inside the bull's eye is called the mark. Anything outside the mark is called "sin". We as a society have been using this word under bad interpretation for many years. We tend to think of all the "shalt nots" as sin when, the proper definition in the context would be: anything outside the mark for your life. Just another case of ignorance and majority rule.

We shouldn't single out people and call them sinners. We should love the people, we can hate the sin but love each and every sinner. Just like Christ does.

No. It's not redundant. But it is often cruel and it is against the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus himself tells us to look to our own sin. Not the sins of others.

Some people who are doing what some of us would consider sin are actually quite innocent because they do not know what they are doing is a sin. So in the eyes of God they have no sin at all. And when one of us loudly and cruelly badgers them about it - we turn them away from Christianity. Then WE have the bigger sin. Again, Jesus himself tells us whoever turns one of his children away from the church has sinned greatly.

Because then the person labeling the other as a "sinner" can feel self-righteous in comparison. Thus its appeal and benefit to those who judge others.

Because, Christ taught the parable of seeing the speck in your neighbor's eye and not seeing the log in your own eye. You are the last one to see your own faults and sins. And the first one to point out those of another person.

we were all sinners the bible says there is none righteous except the son. we all like sheep have gone astray each of us turning our own way. but what Jesus also says that he is loving and merciful to forgive us and cleanse us from UN-righteousness

when people who preach the gospel refer to people as sinners they mean people who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. and they use that do deter them from there sins and turn to Jesus Christ
