I have an '03 1500 with the 5.7 HEMI and I am getting about 24 MPG on the highway during a 65 mile, one way, freeway commute daily. I did several things. I got a new air filter system. At the same time I put a throttle body spacer on it. I have a friend with the same vehicle and we split the cost of a programmer. It was over $300 but after we were sure of the settings we wanted, we sold it on eBay and got $278 back. I keep the tires inflated to the proper lbs. I got the programmer from Summit Racing and the air filter and throttle body came from there as well. I also have a free flow cat back exhaust system. Yes its not as good as Honda millage, but I can carry over 1000 lbs and still out run them in the 1/4 and top end. speaking of top end, the HEMI is limited to 110 by the factory. The programmer eliminated the limits and changed my shift pattern for more power and firmer shifts. Good luck - Gary

r u kidding ive had 4 in my lifetime and they are all basically the same u can only improve the milage by 1-3 mpg when its 13 as it was in my 2001 dakota 4X4........i got 14-15 with a new K&N filter and by driving slower (that was a tough one). otherwise sell it and as the other answer said .............buy a honda.

definitely don't buy a Honda but you can clean you mass air flow sensor with a carb cleaner or degreaser and a lot of time that frees up a couple more mpgs
