Because men think that to be a 'lady' one must not have sex, but to be a 'real man' one must have sex. I've 'slept around' but am married to a wonderful man who didn't ... and he actually likes it that I 'slept around' because he knows I'm faithful to HIM ALONE now that we are together, forever and beyond. What bothers me is that 'women' say the same thing ... I guess this really is a 'patriarchal world' we live in, despite the 'feminist movement.'

It is an old double standard passed down from generation to generation. What you do is your business and it does not matter what others think. However, women should be careful on why they are sleeping with a lot of guys because they are normally more sensitive and emotional...but not always.

Its weird, isn't it? I have heard that in some Latin countries the girls are so heavily protected and guarded from the boys that the boys just quietly do each other and it never gets talked about. That was from an article in the LA Times a few years ago.

It's not necessarily always that way. The older you get, the less people act that way. But normally, it's just not lady-like to sleep around with everyone, so if girls do that, people think lowly of them. If guys do it, for them and their friends it's like a sign of manly-ness. I don't think society will ever change, and I'll never understand it.

That's because girls are supposed to be honored and respected. For her to give of herself should be the ultimate reward for as few guys as possible. For a girl just to sleep with a whole bunch of guys shows a wanton disregard for herself and for the children she might create. Anyone can have her so she becomes known as a slut.

It's always been a double standard. But think about it, we have an innie and it's like we are a human toilet every time a guy makes a "deposit". Where a guy has an outie and it's not considered as gross.

How can you not be aware of the double standard that has existed for a LOOOOOng time? It used to be alot worse....you can thank the women over the years who worked hard for equality.......and as you can see....we have a way to go.

mind mentality of things... women for the most part, see sex as the binding moment of a relationship.. guys do not... sex is just sex to most guys... even in a relationship.. sex is just sex... it doesn't connect to emotions as much as it does for girls... so guys get the pat because it's like a physical game, like football and they scored a touch down... (get it, that's why when a guy gets laid, he scored) and the girl, well, because the emotions are usually attached to the act, she is basically cheaping her worth, because with every new partner, part of her emotional supply is given away or taken away... so it becomes degraded...

i cant believe you dont know, for a guy to get laid it can be a full mission, dating, romance it can take ages for the act to happen,so when it does all the boys are high fiving each other but for a girl getting some, it would have to one of the most easiest things to do,girls can get acction whenever they like so if she gets it all the time she appears easy.

It is a cultural issue... men in history have always had the upper hand. They have been allowed to do as they pleased; this was not the case for women, unfortunately.
