are the brakes siezing on you? if wheels are getting hot then there is some sort of unhealthy friction going on, need more facts for a more accurate answer,
is it stalling or spluttering or does it just cut out dead on you or what, spluttering can be fuel and stopping dead could be electrical, cant say for sure

The front wheels getting hot is the brakes siezing up on you.

As for it bogging down, it could be several things. Let's say the brakes siezing is related. Then the engine is working too hard to spin the wheels and move the car, so it dies. Now, there's the possibility the engine can't breathe. Did you change the air filter? What about the muffler and catalytic converter? Do you feel exhaust coming out the tail pipe? With sitting, those could have gunked up. Is the car injected or carburated? I'm guessing with the year that it's got a carb. With sitting, those also get gunked up with old fuel and such. Run some carb cleaner in the gas tank. If you know how, take it apart so you can clean out all the little passageways, the floats, and needle. If not, take off the air cleaner and spray some carb cleaner right over the butterflies, opening them up. If it is injected, unless the injectors are bad, the easiest thing to do is run some cleaner through the tank. Also, make sure the plugs are gapped right and not soiled. Basically, when you start driving it again, you need a full tune-up to get rid of all the gunk that has built up over time.

The heat on the wheels is most likely caused by frozen brakes(calipers sticking, wheel cylinders frozen). As far as bogging down,if the car sat for years the fuel would be stale, and the fuel system may need major service.Fuel may have to be evaccuated from the tank,a new fuel filter and a good fuel system cleaner used like BG 44k to un-gunk things.

Replace your brakes and calipers on front. Then, replace the pickup coil in the distributor for the for the bogging down.

We had a lot of problems with distributor pickup coils back then.

could also be an ignition coil,,I had an old mustang that would just die on me after about 3-5 miles and when it cooled down after about 10 min, it would go another 3-5 miles. changed the coil and never had another problem like that with it.
