Yes. Lorenzo Snow said "As man is God once was, and as God is man may become."
I know it sounds way out there, but I would ask you to talk to Mormons about it and their religion.
Explaining that subject is like explaining calculus to a third grader. I don't even understand it fully and I'm LDS. It is one of those faith things, "faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true."

Yes, that is a fundamental belief of the Mormon faith. They believe that there are millions of gods, all of whom were once men who became gods after having millions of spiritual children by their wife or wives to populate new worlds. They believe that they will become gods also and be worshipped as the father, son and holy spirit just as the gods before them.

Here's a mormon source for this concept: Apostle Orson Pratt, 'The Seer', 1853, page 132: "We were begotten by our Father in Heaven; the person of our Father in Heaven was begotten on a previous heavenly world by His Father; and again, He was begotten by a still more ancient Father, and so on from generation to generation, from one heavenly world to another still more ancient..."
Looks like the 'Infinite" has a new definition.

Yes and it makes sense to me. Why wouldn't God have a body? And how do you think He became a God? I think we all have a potential to better than we are. God is my Heavenly Father. Wouldn't that mean that I have some of His attributes? I think it means God isn't as mysterious as some people may think yet to our small understanding He is amazing.

They were routinely taught that up until about a year ago when the current president of the Church said on Larry King he didn't know that the church ever taught it or believed it. Problem is, it's been a basic belief of the church. Brigham Young, the church's second prophet, said:
"As man is god once was, as god is man may become."
Go figure.

Yup, that's what they teach along with claiming that Jesus and Satan are "spirit brothers" who both had a plan for man's salvation but the Father picked Jesus' plan instead of Satan's.
Go figure huh? I guess that's what happens when the evil one masquerades as an angel of light and gets ahold of someone and deceives them into thinking that it is God giving them a "special revelation".
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

TESTIMONY OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH
The Prophet Joseph Smith’s own words about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon are:
“On the evening of the . . . twenty-first of September [1823] . . . I betook myself to prayer and supplication to Almighty God . . . .
“While I was thus in the act of calling upon God, I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, standing in the air, for his feet did not touch the floor.
“He had on a loose robe of most exquisite whiteness. It was a whiteness beyond anything earthly I had ever seen; nor do I believe that any earthly thing could be made to appear so exceedingly white and brilliant. His hands were naked, and his arms also, a little above the wrists; so, also, were his feet naked, as were his legs, a little above the ankles. His head and neck were also bare. I could discover that he had no other clothing on but this robe, as it was open, so that I could see into his bosom.
“Not only was his robe exceedingly white, but his whole person was glorious beyond description, and his countenance truly like lightning. The room was exceedingly light, but not so very bright as immediately around his person. When I first looked upon him, I was afraid; but the fear soon left me.
“He called me by name, and said unto me that he was a messenger sent from the presence of God to me, and that his name was Moroni; that God had a work for me to do; and that my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken of among all people.
“He said there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from whence they sprang. He also said that the fulness of the everlasting Gospel was contained in it, as delivered by the Savior to the ancient inhabitants;
“Also, that there were two stones in silver bows—and these stones, fastened to a breastplate, constituted what is called the Urim and Thummim—deposited with the plates; and the possession and use of these stones were what constituted Seers in ancient or former times; and that God had prepared them for the purpose of translating the book.
