It's not guys it's girls too. It's generally not an easy thing to express emotions openly especially ones like that. I know guys that have no problem saying things like that but they don't mean it, they say it only to avoid a conflict or get what they want. She should concentrate on how he acts, because words often mean nothing it's the actions that count.

okay the typical male is raised not to show "girly" emotions like love, tenderness, sadness, or things like that... males don't really get the, awww you're crying.. let it all out.. it's okay.... it's usually, toughen up... or things like that... males are rewarded in society for being strong, tough.... rarely in life or even in the media are men rewarded for being mushy or emotional, unless it's a chick flick.... when a guy is being emotional, it's more done in a comedic way....
women are compeletly the opposite... they are rewarded for being emotional with care, hugs, or compassion.... in the media, when a woman realizes her emotional moment, everything becomes clear and she can finally make the right decision.... she finds the right guy, she gets the job, makes all her dreams come true....
now this isn't true for all men or women... and there are shades of gray where they can drift every once in awhile to the opposite specturm.. but that's why a guy is the way he is.. and that's why the girl doesn't understand it...

Some guys just don't know how. Others don't really want to, and still others think that if they get to emotional women won't like them. Look at what a guy does. If he is nice, caring, and listens to her, then he loves her. If he is mean, hurtful, doesn't listen or just doesn't care, then he doesn't. A lot of guys are uncomfortable sharing their fellings, but if the listen to your problems, take good care of you, love to be around you, and listen to your ideas/advice, chances are he loves you. One way to get us to share our feelings is to corner us. Suddenly swing the conversation in that direction, and ask him if he loves you. He will say yes even if he doesn't, so ask him why. All guys hate this question, but if we truly love somone, we could talk for hours about what we love about them.

It's not that he doesn't love her (though it's a possibility) or that he's not emotional (another possibility). It's just an--how do i say this? automatic? Primal? No, INSTINCTUAL-- thing for us guys to act macho, tough, whatever. We want to impress women, because, well...I don't know. Maybe it's because we think know woman would want to have a relationship with someone who cries when they're sad, etc. like women sometimes do. this is just my thoughts on the subject.
i have a way of showing girls in my class that i like them, and i'm sure this is how all guys do it; i talk to them, maybe--i don't know--get them something small,. this one time a couple years back, i showed a girl i liked by getting her a generic sweet tart sucker that my school was selling during lunch. guys just want to appear tough so that they get a girl they consider hot to go out with them.

Real love has lots of ways of expression, the more a guy uses the more fun it is. Unfortunately our society says emotions equate with weakness. Listening is a great way to say I love you.

Because men are socialized to be emotionless on the outside, what happens when a guy tries to express his emotions? he gets called a sissy, wuss, pussy, fag, fairy, pansy, etc. What happens when a little boy scrapes his knee? "Don't be such a baby, be a man, and walk it off"
So many men just don't know how to express their feelings because they've almost always gotten **** for it.
It's difficult for me to get it out as well, but I do because I care about my girlfriend, if it's too difficult I just write it down, sometimes in the form of a poem.

it sounds like he just expresses it in ways other than saying it. maybe he has a specific way of talking with her and no one else or maybe he just doesn't know the right way to say it yet. it can be pretty hard to tell with those private types. i would suggest trying to observe how he interacts with her compared to everyone else and see if there's something different; eventually he will have to say it.

If he was raised with out much love then he will have a hard time saying it.I'm sure you know if he cares, or not ,so leave it alone. Why do women like to pick at something until their is nothing left.It might take him a lifetime to open up,or he might never.

seems to me that this guy might be extremely smart.
by quick judgement i'll say that you are younger;
and at that age it is BETTER to not get the words ''i love you'' involved in a relationship if it is normally only going to last a few days/weeks.
Boys are made VERY different than girls physically (DUH! haha) and emotionally.
They do not have the underlying need to express themselves like we do.
It is something you will learn over time.
And you'll find that when you get around a guy who is too emotional it is draining...and you begin to want to be around a guy who will act like a man, not like another one of your girlfriends.

Maybe he expects that his girlfriend know he loves her just by his actions and words. She just has to look forward to the future instead of deciding whether he loves her or not. If she looks forward everything will fall right into place. Believe me.
