If your looking for what water is best on taste it would probably be the cooler at your office. If you are looking at quality neither one is better then the other. With the tap water you have chlorine, ammonia and other harsh chemicals that get added to the water to kill ecoli and other harmful bacterias that get into the water lines. The same is true from the water your getting from work. If its just a normal cooler then i would have to say its just charcoal filtration which does nothing for eliminating impurities in the water all charcoal is good for is to improve odor, taste and color of the water.
And I'm sure people right now are reading this saying but I have a cooler or charcoal system and it says it removes everything. Look at the box it came in and or the owners manual and on it, it will give disclaimers on how the system will do what they claim it can do if you follow these few instructions. If you would like to know these feel free to email me.

Actually either-The tap work is going to have natural minerals in it and some citys add flourine to it. The water cooler is going to have filtered water so it will be purer but you'll loose the trace minerals.

I'm not sure it matters...I drink tap water, bottled water, whatever's available.
Usually I just fill my Camelbak from the tap, but if I'm out without it, I'll pick up a Dasani or Aquafina, whichever is cheaper.

It's all about the same. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with tap water anywhere in the US. It's actually held to higher standards than much of the bottled water that fools pay a fortune for.

I have in my house a water purifier, ok, might cost couple of hundred to put in, but it pays back 10 fold the amount of good water you get. You pay, what, $3.00 for a bottle, so keep a jug in your fridge, and you got cold, fresh water 24/7. what's that saying, 'once you go ***** , you'll never go back'. Well, same applies here with filter & tap.

For me !!!
That is the question RIGHT..???
keystone. drinking water - - red can "premium"
tap for anything else.
the only water I pay for (other than tap) is distilled for the humidifier,,... my steam iron that I haven't used in a decade.
my 8 cup coffee maker costs less $15,..gets tap. I just toss it if it looks dirty.

I filter my tap water from home and keep it in the frig so I always have a cold bottle at hand.
This is what I use to filter the water;

I'd say the cooler, because it gets filtered.
Tap does not... Well, not as good as the cooler.
COOLER also provides cool water.
TAP provides room temperature.
