How do you know for sure, did you see it with your own eyes? No, you have faith that it is the truth because of eye-witness accounts.

Why do some people keep demanding evidence of Christ's existence? We already have recorded eye-witness accounts of his existence. Why are they disregarded by many people? There was no question of their truth 50-100 years after they were written, and the original Gospel manuscripts did not have any contradictions.

But yet again, even Peter denied knowing Christ 3 times.

How do you know that the hole in his head was from a bullet? How do you know it caused his death? How do you even know that Abe Lincoln's body is in the tomb? YOU JUST HAVE FAITH!

Do you believe Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence? Do we have pictures of it?

Why is it that faith to some is rediculous and to others, it is necessary. Here is a better question to go along with the original question.

Since no one that was there is alive now, how do we know that the man buried in President Lincoln's coffin is actually.......wait for it.......Abe Lincoln? Even if we pull him up out of his grave, there will most likely be no way of determining his existence through DNA. There is no living decendent today. Not even a long lost relative can be determined. Yes, there are newspaper articles written about it and many of these are from first hand sources, but what if they were paid to write this so Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln could go on a long deserved vacation. Hmmmmmmm..........

This also can be said about Christ and why no one can find his tomb. You see the problem of trying to prove or disprove something exist. Remember, Christians such as I rely on faith to get us through tough times. There is evidence of his existence in Jerusalem. Archaeologist believe they have found the tomb in which Christ's body was placed, but this is still debateable. That does not matter to me. It is my faith that Jesus is the Son of God. Faith and my testimony tells me that he did walk the earth and teach the multitude (reteach) the Word (Gospel). Do people of faith truly need evidence of God's existence? no. Remember, miracles happened in front of the non-believers and then they professed the allegience to God. After a while, the same would again go back to their old ways and even go so far as to deny the miracles ever happened.

P.S.: Peter denied knowing who he was or that he was with him. He never denied that he was the Christ. As I see a little more clearly or read, I pretty much repeated what you said.

Thank You for your question.

Well, there's the matter of burden of proof. I had a professor in college who put it well. His version went something like this:

If someone told him that a student outside had found a penny on the street, he wouldn't find that unlikely and would probably believe him. If someone told him that a student found a rare golden penny outside, it would seem less plausible but not inconceivable, and he would probably believe if someone else verified the story. On the other hand, if someone told him that a flying saucer descended from the heavens, debarked from their ship snapping photographs and speaking perfectly unaccented English and gave a student an alien penny made of completely unidentifiable materials not found on the periodic table, then even if ten thousand people telling the story might not be enough to establish plausibility without that penny.

And that's what we're talking about here, right?

I don't think anyone would dispute that a couple thousand years ago there was a guy who was pretty wise and had followers. It's the whole raising the dead, walking on water, and ascending into the sky on beams of light that are hard to swallow for most.

Anraham Lincoln was assasinated. It is just logic that slave owners were very upset that the president abolished the practice as it is barbaric. Slaves as servants is one thing, as this has always existed in the world. Now, they are just more diverse in the actions and get paid for it. Like hiring a house maid to do chores instead of yourself. Slavery was just a cruel act and should not be used as a similitude as it were christians whom commited these acts.

I for one never deny the Christ being the Messiah as it is incumbent upon me in my religion. But it also does not allow me to neglect the facts of life. Anything that was created in any way, shape, or form is not GOD. Period. The only True Lord is the only thing that always was and always will BE. Peace.

You're right there are hundreds and thousands of eye-witness accounts to the events of Lincoln's death. It was all written by people who lived at that time, and we can still find that.

We cannot however find the original writings of people who wrote the bible because it was changed and rearranged and taken from and added to and just plain screwed with.

Shakespeare "translated" parts of the bible, no author "translated" parts of Lincoln's life.

EDIT: as for the Jefferson part of your question we have his signature and his hand writing and it's on plenty of other things that any person can compare and match the handwriting.

Jeez.

How about, say, a book that isn't the Bible that mentions Jesus. For example, maybe some Roman records? Anything.

I mean the guy supposedly was resurrected and ascended to heaven, you'd think at least one person might have written it down with in a week instead of about 40+ years.

Actually, it would take more Faith to deny Abe Lincoln or Thomas Jefferson's existence to accept it. How does this make sense? Because of the vast amount of documents, information, and family history that point to the existence of these people and everything they did. To deny the existence of Thomas Jefferson, we'd have to fill in lots of history about the founding of the US, diplomacy with France, his descendants would've had a different antcestor, we'd need a new explanation of where Monticello came from, and who design the University of Virginia. That's a lot of history to undo with faith, and my faith isn't strong enough so I actually have to accept his existence.

To undo the entire known history of Jesus from this planet, we only need to forget one book. See, that's why it's basically impossible to believe in this story.

What are you talking about? Abe Lincoln has been my law partner for twelve years. He's an incredible guy. His resume goes back 150 years, how's that for experience? Nobody shot him. What a load of crap. You have to stop believing everything you see on tv. Especially the History channel. They put all kinds of crazy stuff. Blacks were once slaves, etc. Some big war, holocausts, whatever.

I know he was assassinated. This is not sound reasoning. We have photographic evidence along with a lot of other recorded evidence. I'm a Christian, but I doubt you will win anyone over with this argument.

The difference between Abe and Jesus' witnesses. There are those who will immediately understand the difference and those who will refuse to understand. It has ever been so. It will always be so. No need to butt my head against a brick wall.

The difference is we can go dig up Abe and have a look at the hole in his skull.
Eyewitness testimony alone is poor substitute for physical evidence.
