Does using sunscreen reduce tan?

I'm naturally white by default but since I have lots of melanin I guess I am tanned. I wonder whether I could get rid of a little of the tan by using sunscreen?

could you get rid of a tan you already have? no. but if you wear sunscreen while outdoors it will take you longer to tan.

You can't get rid of it, but the sunscreen just keeps you from getting burnt.
