Prices vary depending on the brand. You can buy the cheap local ones for 4RMB/pack (about 50 US cents) but there are also cigarettes (local ones) that go for up to 150 or even 200RMB/pack. As a foreigner I don't advise to smoke Chinese cigarettes, I always get a bad headache from them. Marlboro and Lucky Strike are usually the fake ones from Russia or Vietnam but if you come accross the French brand "Gauloises", they're the real deal and they cost about 15RMB/pack, you can haggle the price down to 10-12RMB if you buy a carton.

zhong nan hai is a popular local brand among foreigners in china go's for either 4 or 6 rmb a pack. that's about .40 to .60 USD cents.
Malboro cigarets go for between 10 and 15 RMB a pack. 1USD or 1.5 USD. depending on if they are chinese or imported. Imported will go for 10 Rmb since they are marketed as "fake" but in all actuality they are imported from Thailand or the Philipeans...

note that these are shop prices and not street vender prices.....
