1978 GMC-The fuel filter is just inside the carburetor housing where the metal fuel line connects to the carburetor.Be sure to use two wrenches so you do not twist the tubing.

this is a good one. on the top of your carb.is the air filter, take it off. the little screw in the middle. easy. then look for a steel line going to the carburetor.about the size of a big pen. It will look bolts on to the carb. take that not loose. verrrrrrry important!!!!!! the piece that it goes to holds the filter you will have to hold it with a wrench while you turn the nut on the line. important if it won't come off. then you have a problem. you will have to cut the fuel line. THERE IS FUEL IN THE LINE. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING OR FLAME OF ANY KIND!!!!! ANY SPARK WILL SET IT OFF!!! you can cut the line just before the bend at the carb. leave at least an inch and half from the fitting ok. then turn the whole piece. and the filter and all will come off. then get the right fuel filter. you will need a piece of FUEL LINE HOSE only about three inches and two hose clamps. put the filter in the holder then on the carb. then put one end of the hose on the steel line. clamp it then put the other end of the steel line on the hose and clamp it. clean up all the spilled fuel ALL OF IT!!! then try to start your truck. check for leaks find any. turn off and fix CLEAN UP FUEL!!!~
Put everything back together and drive. check hose often like when you check your oil. buy a repair manual for your truck. it all will make sense.
good luck

The filter is on the fuel feed line somewhere, just follow the fuel line from the tank forward to the carb, you will find it.Some carburetors also have a small filter screen at the carb where the feed line connector is.

Should have a carb. on it. The filter is on the carb..take off the air cleaner, in front of carb.you will see a steel line (3/8) going into the carb..At the end of the line is a small nut (5/8-- wrench needed) After that a large nut (1 inch or bigger) behind the big nut is the filter. Hold big nut with a wrench and loosen the small nut and take it off. (gas is coming out) Unscrew the lg nut and take off.( Don't loose washer or spring behind filter!) Put back on in reverse order. Start nuts by hand! (spring-filter-washer on lg nut then tighten then sm nut.

depends a bit on what engine you have.

If you have a 4 barrell carb. there will also be a small filter in the inlet line in addition to the larger one which is usually placed just after the fuel pump.
