By subway please. How long is the commute? I need to be at Rutgers by 8:00am. What time should I leave NYC?

Unfortunately, there are no subways near La Guardia Airport. And neither does the NYC subway go anywhere near Piscataway in New Jersey (where Livingston College is).

Your best bet would be to take a shuttle bus service like the New York Airport Shuttle to get to Penn Station in Manhattan, and take an NJ Transit train from there to Edison. The Edison train station is within a 15 minute walk to the Livingston campus.

The bus ride from La Guardia to Penn would take a bit less than an hour, ditto the train ride from Penn to Edison. I would budget at least 2 hours for this trip.

If you want a faster way, you will need to hire a cab at the airport, but it will be quite costly.

Hope this helps.

There are no subways that go to LaGuardia unfortunately. While there are public buses, I would recommend taking a bus service, either Supershuttle or New York Airport Service, to Penn Station. I would love at least an hour or 1.5 hours since you will be going into Manhattan.

Then take the Northeast Corridor train from Penn Station to New Brunswick. Depending on whether you get an express or local this ride could take an hour (local). I would go to New Brunswick instead of Edison which is closer to Livingston because there is a cab company right downstairs from the NB train station. You could also take the L or LX Rutgers bus, but the cab would be faster.

Hope that helps.

you'd have done much better flying into Newark, even if it was a few dollars more.

If it's not too late to change your ticket, do it.
