Okayy.. So alot of people [mainly adults] have this huge problem with my boyfriend and I. He's 18, [turning 19 at the end of august], and I'm 15 [turning 16 at the end of september]. What's so wrong with that? That's only 32 months of an age difference, and in my state it's not considered sagitory rape unless he's 36 months older. So what's the big deal?

My mother doesnt have a problem with it anymore.

I asked him why he's dating a 15 year old..he said I'm very mature for my age, and I look alot older than 15...

ok people be realistic. If she is 16 and he is 19, they probably have already had sex. If not that is great on her part. The important thing here is to stress how important it is to use protection to avoid pregnancy. I don't think the age difference is in a range to cause concern. Girls naturally mature faster than guys. 75% of 19 yr old females don't date guys their own age. On the flip side of this, she needs to understand that most guys date younger girls to control them. Not so much control, but influence them. As for the comment about the guy being old enough to do legal things (smoke etc) We all know that kids have their own way of doing things without being legal. Not saying its right, just being logical about the situation. Even most night clubs will allow 18 yr old girls in when the guys age limit is 21.

Well when I was 15, about 90% of the girls in my grade were dating boys at least 2 yrs older than them. But, he is over 18/16 (depending on the law) and you are only 15. So... technically he could still get brought in on rape charges. Also, mentally there is a HUGE difference between who you are at 15 and then at 18. What about if a 13 yr old boy wanted to date a 10 yr old girl? People would have big problem with that too.

Look at it from their perspective. You might not agree with it but from outward appearances, its a man dating a young girl. (Even though it might not feel that way to either of you)

Very age concerned you are!
It is at this time you need to stay single - remain focussed and don't do stupid things, like getting ideas about the rest of yer life!
This is not critisism - its advice; If you are still together in five years time then you will have shown everyone what it is right. If not, then you will have yer answer.

Stick to learning - everyone learns everyday something new - make sure you don't give that up.
Trying to re-invent the wheel with yer age or age gap is a well known ploy from those in authority - it aint gonna help you - its only gonna get worse - so, relax, learn and don't take laws the customs for granted. If it ain't working then it ain't working.
The big deal is your understanding of the subject and getting into stuff far too early on in life. Learn to walk and talk then decide what to offer the rest of the world.

Whoa! That is a big age difference at that time of your life. That 32 months is pretty much more like 15 years at that point! I don't see the parallel in interests, date another 15 year-old! That'd be much more fun. No need to get so serious with 'an older man'.

well, i can think of soooo many reasons. first off you know the thing in your head. you know the one that says "ill never do that" well keep that in mind as you read. i dont care who the guy is but hes almost 19. so bieng that he has passed 18, the age were you are able to drink and stuff, then its a problem. sex would be a big thing to. there is not a person in this world that, under the right stuff, will not have sex. i do agree that the age difference isnt that bad but thats if its like 31 and 40. that happenes all the time, but this yound, you dont have the information to choose that, well you do, its just parents tell you that you dont. just fi your happy then contiune, just think before you do anythiing and dont screw up!

The big deal isn't the age differece. It's the fact that you are under the legal age of consent. And boyfriend is legally an adult

to be honest, most people don't care... it's just there is a percieved standard of what age groups should date each other when they're 18 and lower... those would be grade school kids would date someone in their grade.... jr. high school kids would date someone in jr. high... high school kids would date those in their high school... and once you hit the 18+ mark, you should be dating other 18+ .... at that point it's open game as far as age range goes....

He's an adult, you are a child. That's the big deal. What could you possibly have in common? Is he too immature that girls his age don't bother? If so, there's a real big clue for you.

Parents think older kids or adults they consider them once they turn 18..that they will influence you to do bad things...I know it sucks. :( But dont try to grow up to fast, and dont let others tell you what to do,do what you want to do. ok. good luck with it all.
