I would love it if they brought prayer back in schools to be honest with you.
But, I understand that we have so many different beliefs it would be so wrong to impose that on others. We can send our children to a Christian school. It is in this type of facility it is allowed.
Or what ever you follow they have schools that will allow you to pray to what ever you want to pray to your sacred cow, your box of donuts, your cat, what ever the powers that be in your life. Times have changed.
Prayer does not belong in Public schools.
Christians and others can always pray in silence. Maybe a new creed for all children to follow that has no base in the religious aspect. Our children need guidance in being good people they need to have a pledge of some sort that keeps them happy in their life's and existence of the difference of others we need a common bond that will stop the diversity and hate and teach our children to love.
Star great question!! weee hugs to you

I feel that Prayer in school should not be permitted. not because I fear the influences of the prayers or their religion but because it will keep small minded people from throwing fits. I am how ever a big fan of the moment of silence when anyone can prey as they see fit as long as they do so silently. also satanists don't worship they devil they worship themselves as god. they mock the christian faiths in black masses as a way of laughing at them for there fear, not a way of contacted the devil. Devil worshipers are a completly diffrent entity religuosly. and Voo Doo has nothing to do with satanisim either. Voo Doo is a relgion that is bassed in africa when the slave ships brought the slaves here they relised that certin saints in the catholic faith greatly reselmbled there own Gods and they incorporated them as a way of keeping there faith and fooling the white masters into beleiveing they were practicing a christian faith

I think that we should not require prayer in school because of different religions. But what if a Muslim student wanted to do that ritualistic prayer thing they have to do at certain times then he/she should be able to. I am Christian and talk to God in my head all the time in prayer and short of something like in Minority Report I don't see how they could stop anyone from praying silently. But if you are asking should the teacher lead students in prayer. NO they should not. Because our great nation has freedom of religions there are lots of them and the teacher could be one of those other religions. They should continue with it as it was in my day that we have moments of silence and then those who want to pray can no matter their religion and the rest can pass notes or whatever.

First off Voodoo is a Christian religion joined with African spritulism just food for thought.
I agree school lead pray does not belong at all. Being a Pagan and Celtic by faith and more specificlly a follower of the Master of the Hunt.
My sons will know honor and life and understand thier place. And a person trying to force them to pray to a good who does not believe in thier god will be a dark day for that person indeed.
Because of beliefs as strong as my own and my families, religion has no place in school.

There has always been prayer in schools--especially on test days. The dust-up now is that Christians want the Christian prayers to be vocal so that all students will be influenced or annoyed by them. This is distinctly against the Constitution of the USA unless all religions represented by students and faculty are also allowed vocal expression of prayer. If that came about, there would be chaos. There would also be Christian Parents complaining that "people of the Satan" were around their children and trying to influence them. It would not even have to be Satanists, it could be any religion the Christian Protestants did not agree with, even Roman Catholics, Jews, and, of course, Wiccans, Hindus, and Native Americans.

Keep pray out of school? No, I think we should keep pray at schools and allow the large cats from the zoo to come in once a day to eat. Teach those kids a thing or two about life to watch that. Live nature program. Good thinking!

The problem is that the prayer that is supported by the schools is so watered down that noone of *ANY* belief wants to hear it. As a matter of fact where this issue crops up, there is any foundation for the prayer, so the prayer is naturally watered down. Sometimes government has nothing to do with it, but they'd like you to think they do.

some college admistrators have long gone over the precise with examining their responsiblities, and erred by over-proscribing freedom of expression so some distance as faith is going, by banning t-shirts and such. those forms of strikes would not postpone to a court docket undertaking, yet how a lot of human beings report greater healthful using fact the central reported i'm unable to do something i think of I would desire to be allowed to do? additionally, some preachers are irresponsible with their pulpits, and have self assurance that the ends justify the flexibility. so as that they take any limit of religion and start up up scaring human beings into believing that God is faraway from college by regulation, while it basically isn't.

It's fine for people to pray privately in school during free time. We, as a nation, cannot, however, promote any one religion through school sponsored prayer. One of the key freedoms we all have is freedom of religion, so to promote one religion over others by having school led prayer would be to deny those of other religions that very freedom.
Our government should remain neutral so that we may maintain our diversity.

I'm an atheist, but I believe prayer should be allowed in school. I don't believe, however, that the school should conduct it. Students should be able to meet with their own "groups" and pray-or be like my school was with a "moment of silence". I was on many athletic groups and our coach asked each of us if we would like to pray before each of our games. Everyone said yes, including me (I thought as a team). I would've been upset if someone told us that we couldn't. Our coach never participated in the prayer, but let us lead it ourselves. What ever you choose to do with that moment is your business. Either way, no religion should be pushed upon a child.
