That idea is as stupid as the people that told you that in the first place. Why in the heck would any fool shoot a pistol upside down? You're watching too many gang banger movies. Only Thugs and Bangers and Banger wannabe's will hold a gun on it's side or upside down.NO they won't jamb but you won't hit jack s*** either!

Normally, so long as a revolver's timing is okay and nothing is broken, about the only way a revolver jams is if the bullets are not crimped into the case and they slide out of the case some under recoil and protrude past the end of the cylinder and don't allow the cylinder to rotate. The position is not important.
However, all this sideways, upside down shooting has limited value. While there may be some instances where you may have to shoot from awkward positions, they are far and few between. I'd be a lot more concerned with being able to shoot well from conventional positions before I'd worry much about the odd stuff.

Revolvers can be fired right-side-up, upside down, wrong-side-down or gangsta style but the question is... Why??? Shooting is serious business and any gun should be held properly to ensure function, accuracy and non-injury to the shooter. You hold a gun wrong and the recoil could injury you or cause you to drop your gun damaging the gun or causing it to accidently discharge injurying you or someone unintended. Try shooting a .44 Magnum while holding it upside down and see if you can hold onto it when it goes off. Seriously, DON'T try this but picture doing this in your mind. If you've ever fired even a .357 Magnum you'll get the idea. In other words... Just... DON'T DO IT.
Best.

The only time I've ever shot a gun upside-down was in competition (laying on my back on the floor, firing "over" my head at the target). A bunch of us shot upside-down that day, and none of our guns jammed. No reason for them to - gravity doesn't play a part in pistol operation.

First of all, it would be very awkward to hold a revolver upside down - and why would you want to? There's more chance of shooting yourself in the head, even if it did work. I'd stick to holding it the way it's meant to be held.

There a couple of reasons to shoot a gun upside down:
1.Anybody ever back into heavy cover and discover the game is behind you?
2. fire into a low port.
3. impress the peeps withs hows you handles a gat.... g-dog

No! Other than a flintlock pistol, revolvers have less chance of jamming than any firearm I know of!

Not with modern cartridges. Old fashioned muzzle loaders and flintlocks usually could not be fired in anything but a relatively upright and level position, but cartidges make it possible to shoot from any angle

No chance that it will jam, but a good chance you will shoot yourself or someone else in the foot ;p
