we've all heard this one by now.

it is a sport. how bout the TEAMWORK in the pits and the spotter telling the driver where the car is coming from. it takes skill and concentration to drive a car for 5 hours with 41 cars trying to beat you.

NASCAR is a sport. Even though it got it's start by running from the cops with moonshine in the trunk. It eventually took them to Daytona to race on the beach. Now days, the driver's have to prepare themselves for a race. The have to work out, build up long distance endurance. These drivers can loose up to 10 pounds a race. Don't tell me it's not a sport. Last I remember, football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, etc. do the same things. The only difference is they get to take breaks and get time outs where as NASCAR doesn't. Not even when red flagged unless it is an unusual circumstance where they can get out of the car.

But let's don't forget about the pit crew. Those guys are awesome.

Sorry I have to agree with you on that. And look at what those drivers go through in that car for 4 to 5 hours 120 degree's and the g load on them. If that isn't a sport then what is ?

Hand eye coordination, foot eye coordination and team work plus the drivers has to have good communication still to relay status to the pits so they can make the proper adjustment to the car to win a race not to mention going 180 mph with 43 other drivers.

Absolutely Nascar is a sport. Those guys go hard for hours at a time...with no timeout, no offense/defense break, no halftime. 5 hours without a bathroom break in a HOT car at 150+ mph...they are tough!

Absolutely. And all that sweating inside that car. is like running a mile for someone else.
Whoever said it was not a sport does not realize these guys work out too, to keep in shape to drive, they have trainers too.
