A post from a fundie

"Our basic belief of why homosexuality should be outlawed is because the God of the Bible destroyed two large cities (think of LA and Chicago put together and you get the magnitude of size) simply because the cities were founded with homosexuality. So if homosexuality becomes a legal thing, it would make heterosexuality a crime. Since heterosexuality has long been referred to as the "right, correct, and true way of marriage", ANYTHING that threatens to make what is "right" WRONG and things that are "wrong" RIGHT threatens the very morals that the fundamental Christian stand on. "

Wow...you fundies scare me with your Nazi mentality...you really are no better than the taliban....to outlaw homosexuality...geesh

No of course not. Homosexuality is a part of the human and animal condition and by outlawing it one would be making criminals out of an entire group fo people as well as render them not even 2nd class citizens. Homosexuality is no threat to anyone save for the homophobes and the self proclaimed moralists. Regarding that fundies posting, Thank goodness we live in a secular democracy where theroracy is not allowed. That Fundie needs schooling of the proper kind he seems no different than the Taliban who ruled Afghanistan and wound up doing terrible things to others. If people like him came to power what would become of homosexuals, nonreligous folks, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Jews? I shudder to think.

I am in no way in favor of homosexuality. I do not hate gays, I hate the life style. Its an abomination , a complete joke , and I believe like most things the more some people don't want it ...more people will fight to have it just because of their own stupidity. But the one thing I'm happy about seeing with all this gay crap . Is because it has to come to pass according to the Bible as one of the signs of Jesus return." For as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in those days when the son of man returns". Many prophecies have come to pass already . This is just one more step in the right direction. How stupid will you really feel to wake up one day and either have family, or a friend, or just someone you know to have disappeared and that person being one you made fun of or laughed at their belief in God then like a light being turned on realize the rapture really did happen, their beliefs were not to be taken lightly, and then to realize the worst is about to happen. I pray for our misguided country that we would rather make a stand against God flip the coin and see there is a real reason to stand and fight for the right of God. Give him true complete control and let him show how well it can be. " Turn from your wicked ways , trust and believe in God, then will he heal our lands". If nothing else. Ask yourself do you really believe this is ok, or are you following your friends and families, maybe a boyfriend or girlfriends opinions just to stand in their good graces instead of being an individual with common sense enough to know right is right and wrong is wrong . Black is not white. No more than white is black. Which is to say...grey doesn't exist. Your either right or wrong, on the left or the right, either for God or against him. Which is it?

The person who gave this answer was obviously feeling guilt and internal conflict due to his/her homophobia. This made him/her lash out in this way. Homophobia is not permanent; it's a chosen behavior and belief and as such, we can and should petition God to have this sin removed from our hearts.

As we know, Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed due to homosexuality, but rather due to all sorts of sins and finally, rape and inhospitality. So to use this as some sort of statement from God on homosexuality is misinterpreting Scripture.

Furthermore, no one is clamoring to outlaw heterosexuality. Gay people are not the ones demanding that heterosexuals not be allowed to marry, or adopt, or hold jobs, or serve in the military. It's pretty clear which side is trying to outlaw whom.

I nearly started laughing until I realized these sick freaks where being serious. These guys need to see a doctor or something to deal with their own mental problems long before they begin criticizing anybody else. Really how can you outlaw someones sexuality of all things in this country of all places. Its just freaking ludicrous to even consider! Makes me ashamed to be of the same species as those fundie freaks!

no it shouldn't, and it never ceases to amaze me how people keep thinking that rights and freedoms are a zero-sum game. there is not a limited amount of freedom or right. to give someone else rights does not have to mean taking away someone elses.
Besides, the whole Sodom and Gomorrah thing was based on a lot more than homosexuality, and as was mentioned by another poster to a different question, was probably normative homosexuality which was more about exploitation than about commitment and relationships.

If we lived in another land or society probably yes, but REMEMBER we live in the good ol USA! Land of the free!!People are free to make their own decisions and practice their sexuality. The ultimate Judge after death will make the decision. If homosexuality is outlawed imagine what else could follow. If it's not threatening our Constitution and Amendments, let it be! Remember God also tells us to obey the laws of the land. If the next person doesn't agree then so be it. This shouldn't threaten YOUR beliefs.

Personally I do feel it is wrong in the eyes of God, but so are other sins like adultery, murder, lying, fornicating and so on, but God allows repentance, no sin is greater than the other we ALL sin and fall short of his glory so who are we to judge another persons actions. That person doing wrong will be held accountable for his or her own sins.

If you feel you must do something to stop homosexuality, pray and enlighten the homosexual with education and love, not hate and rejection. God can help deliver them from their sin just like any other sin.

Of course it shouldn't be outlawed. If that stuff really happened, then where was God when all the Greeks were molesting little boys? At one point it was law in Athens that every boy be assigned an older man to "take care of him", and sodomy and pedophilia were accepted and commonly practiced. I'm not saying that's good, because it's horrible, but I don't think any giant gay cities were smitten. San Francisco is still up, right? Gays are people too.

What are people so afraid of. Love is a beautiful thing whether it be between a man and woman, a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. It's almost like people feel it's contagious. To the people who think the same way as this other person I say to you: Maybe Homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of YOUR God, but my Gods/Goddesses are fine with it. I wouldn't want to live in a place where love is illegal!

Should Heterosexuals be outlawed? They are the ones who are destroying the planet through promiscuous breading that is overpopulating it.
