Now I know your tempted to come in with something you memorised off a tract but listen.

The church flourished before the bible was written. It depended on tradtion and certainly other letters from the apostles and church leaders.

It took centuries for their to be agreement on what went into the bible and certainly the holy spirit inspired that.

However the oldest copies of the original books are centuries newer that the originals which no longer exist.

To determine the acuracy of these books you have to take the word of the Roman Catholic Church that preserved them. So in affect you have to hold as trustworthy the Catholic testimony that the bible is indeed acurate and that the Holy spirit guided the catholic church.

Seriously if you believe that the Bible is the the word of truth you have to ask where did it come from and the answer is the Catholic Church.

But then who is to interpret it. Most protestants disagree about the interpretation among themselves.

TO QUALIFY

The catholic church was the original church and the original christians.

The bible you have from 400ad came from christians who were the founding fathers of the catholic church. Up until protestants showed up the church was ONE CHURCH.

Really I am beinging to think that most evangelicals are really stupid and uneducated.

As they say with out conflict we would not search and seek the truth.Evangelicals and Catholics have lively and animated discussions on the interpretation of Scripture. That's the spice of life What fun would it be if we all thought the same thing.

Even when history dictates to us about certain issues. People are blind and can not see what is right in-front of them. You are very correct that it was the Catholic Church protected the Bible across the ages until the Gutenberg press was invented. Until that time it was handwritten by the monks and such. But you know this will only cause an uproar and they will ask about the old testaments...but why not we need some spice in here.

The Bible was finalized once and for all time by the Catholic Church at the Council of Carthage in 397 A.D. Ignatius, first Catholic bishop of Antioch, wrote of "the Holy Catholic Church" in 107 A.D. Ignatius was taught and most likely ordained by the apostle John.

These poor folks disagree with God's Church because of "what they read in the Bible". I guess they haven't read the part about the Church being "the pillar and foundation of truth". They are trying to make a book fill the role that God has assigned to His Church! And the result is just what you would expect - doctrinal chaos. No structure can stand once you remove it from its pillars and foundation - and that includes the truth. Apparently they also haven't noticed that what they believe from what they read in the Bible conflicts with what the next denomination believes, supposedly from reading the same Bible. Sad. I bet this is why the stated will of God is "that they all may be ONE".

The catholic church was only the instrument to bring the truth
but not the truth itshelf, God uses all things according to his will. God is the true author of the bible.

You are correct in all you said. But they won't listen to you, or even seek out the answers for themselves. They prefer to believe just what their anti-Catholic pastor says and read the chick tracts for 'info'.

I am sorry to let you down, but the scriptures existed before the Catholic Church. Besides, many of the doctrines of the Catholic Church are out right deceptions and go against the very grain of what Christ taught.

If Catholics stuck with the Bible it would be ok and there would be no disagreement. However, they use the words of the Pope and others as doctrine as well. Anytime you add extra-biblical doctrines you are opposing GOd.
