Greetings Friend,
I do not think a persons nature can be changed, meaning who we are by nature. Please, let me explain. Who we are is who God created us to be. God created us perfect and we have never changed from that regardless of what we think. We are not who we think we are. We are who God created us to be.
We have remade ourselves into these images that we think we are - self concepts. We are not those concepts. So, in a way, we must change our thinking if we are to ever find the peace we are looking for.
So, to your question how do we change the way we think? First, we must have a desire to change. Second, we need mind training. It cannot be just any mind training. It must be a system that is consistent in its thought system. The best material I have seen on this is A Course In Miracles. I hope this helps.
sending love,

The only thing that can change the nature of a person, is the person themselfs it will take alot of controll, effort and will not be easy. Nature in general tends to flow with the way it is but it is posible, They just have to do more then want it they have to take the babysteps to get there..

Only one thing: God. And He does that in a Sacramental way, by the washing away of sin in the waters of Holy Baptism. That is the ONLY way that our "NATURE" can be changed. It's called "Baptismal Regeneration" and it causes/makes an ontological change in us. We are marked forever as God's.

I personally have found that seeing the world and its people as I believe God in Christ sees them changes my view, my feelings and my actions towards them. How do I know how He sees them? Spending time in prayer and Bible study. Being quiet long enough and often enough to hear Him speak to me ..... More of Him in my life makes less of me and my "less than perfect" ways.

Usually, that is very VERY hard to change. New information seldom does this. Experiences, especially traumatic ones will change a person's perspective.

Conversion of the heart in CHRIST JESUS. THE HOLY SPIRIT can take the hardest of hearts and mold them to an image of CHRIST.
LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.
