Absolutely not They are air cooled engine.
I like the Vw cars even though people complain about them I still like them.

The 2000 and all Jettas use liquid cooling for the engine. Some even liquid cool the transmission fluid. I love my 2000 Jetta the VR6 screams and the new factory front spoiler is pure sex. VW RAWKS

I have a 2000 Jetta VR6 it is liquid cooled with an electric fan.

No. VW doesn't make air cooled engines anymore (at least not for the US market). They were having problems with passing emissions on air cooled engines so everything they sell in the US is water cooled.
