I have two toy fox terriers. Every day, the bigger male goes outside, munches on grass, and heaves until he pukes up white foam with grass blades in it. He has been doing this literally every day for years. This morning, our little female was doing the same thing. I think she got it from watching the male.
Anyway, we take our dogs in for regular check-ups and any time they get sick. The vet has known about this for years and says there's nothing wrong with the dogs.

Are you watching her when she is outside? Dogs have a tendency to eat a lot of things outdoors that can be toxic to their systems. For instance, some plants and flowers can be very dangerous if ingested by dogs. If she is a puppy, she is eating everything that she can possibly get her paws on. Keep an eye on her. If she only vomits after being outside, then you know she is into something out there that does not agree with her. Also, if she is drinking too much water, too quickly, you need to watch her intake. If she continues to vomit, take her to the vet.

You dog may just be getting over heated while she is outside so they drink water to cool themselves. If it is hot where you live, I would say don't leave the dog out for very long because dogs can dehydrate just as fast as humans. I know that if my big dog runs too much while she is outside and then comes in and gulps down the water really fast, she will throw up.
But if the vomiting continues, especially if she is vomiting everyday, I would definitely take her to a vet. Hope this helps

We have two schnauzers and our boy dog throws up all the time, but our girl dog doesn't. I think some dog's are just sensitive and others aren't. He throws up some of the treats we give them, any unusual food, if he eats grass, drinks too much water, sometimes he even throws up his regular food. He's happy and healthy though. Check with your vet if she's tired or has any other unusual symtoms but if she's fine other than throwing up she's probably just got a sensitive tummy.

If vomiting is a concern, after drinking lots of water and eating grass, I think a call to a vet med professional would have the answer to your question.

AAAhhhh...I wouldn't worry about it. I've got 5 dogs and they all love to go outside and eat the yummy grass. My cat also loves to do this with fresh cut flowers and christmas trees. Just make sure your dog doesn't eat grass thats been chemically treated within the past 3 days of doing it...if so, RUSH to your local vet.

no, it's not a virus, this happens to all dogs. she is probably eating too much grass to stomach. dogs eat grass to settle their stomach, but sometimes it has the opposite effect. also, over hydrating herself may be a problem. she is probably perfectly fine and you most likely don't have to worry. but if you do feel that something is wrong, take her to the vet. don't trust what people say on yahoo answers. lol

My dog does this also. Sometimes, she will eat and looks like she didn't even chew it!!!! She always seems fine. I don't worry about it. When I have her outside, or after a walk, I don't let her have water for a while. Sometimes her nose is warm, and she gets over it. Just like us, they sometimes don't feel good.
