I got a speeding ticket a couple of weeks ago and the officer put that my car is a 2007 in stead of a 1997. I got the paperwork in the mail today and it also has the year as 2007. Can I get out of this ticket? That is a big difference in the years.

This error will be corrected in court.

Even though it is a ten year difference, it is not grounds for the dismissal of a speeding ticket.

No that error will not get you out of the ticket.
If you really want to try to get out of the ticket there are a couple of things you can try. Depending upon your state.
Most state require that an officer have a valid and up to date training certificate in his file to operate a radar gun. That the gun must be calibrated with the tuning fork for that gun at the start of the shift and checked after each ticket is issued. Failure of any of those items would typically violate the established procedure and the ticket would be dismissed. You might be able to have the ticket dismissed, but you will have to go to court to try, and if you are unsuccessful be prepared to pay the ticket and court costs.

Nope it will just be pointed out he is a Police Officer not a Used Car Salesman. And it does not make any difference whether you was driving a 2007 a 1997 or a 1957 model car the radar got you speeding the car wasn't driving itself.

In and of itself, that little detail will not get you off the hook as it is not relevant to the offense, nor does it cause any confusion about the identity of the offender. But it is worth mentioning to the judge if you can find some other inconsistencies. If you can put together a convincing argument that calls into question the officer's powers of observation and show that his work was sloppy enough, you might have enough reasonable doubt on your side to get the ticket dismissed.

You can appeal the ticket or send a letter in trying to reduce it but the year doesn't matter. My mom got a speeding ticket and was able to cut the amount down by writing a letter to the judge (or whomever).

I am guessing not, because the year of the vehicle is irrelevant to the rate of speed in which you were driving.
