my friend and i are supposed to be traveling to London at the end of august but her passport still hasn't arrived. she applied for one about 4 weeks ago and paid extra to receive it faster. How much longer do you think it'll take?

You should get it on time if she paid for expedited service.

But they are dealing with millions of passport requests. Someones bright idea to require passports to travel to Canada has clicked in. 14 million Americans visit Canada each year, a majority are likely not passport carriers. This year you need one if you fly, next year all travel. It totally backlogged the system. So they changed the rules and Americans going to Canada this summer no longer need that passport, they just need to apply. SOOOO, your friend is waiting for a passport she NEEDS for travel, but it is delayed because of all the applications from people who DON'T NEED it for travel.

I got mine in 6 weeks. However, that was two years ago. With all the changes concerning travel to Canada and Mexico requiring passports, the offices are probably backlogged with applications. Good luck. You have about 4 more weeks to hope it shows up on time. Otherwise, your friend won't be able to go.

It took me 6 weeks to receive mine
