I am going on vacation tomorrow afternoon and will be back late Sunday night. Is my cat okay if I leave her with plenty of water and a lot of dry food? She normally eats canned food but will eat the dry if thats all there is.

She will be fine, we left our cats at home with lots of food and water for a weekend and they were fine when we arrived home. Good luck :)

Cats are very capable of staying a few days alone. Leave her with the food and water and maybe a toy to play with. Some cats even like it if you have the TV come on automatically so that there's some noise. But she will be fine for that short amount of time. Just be prepared if she's a bit angry when you get home--my cat with meow at me all night after I come back from a trip!

Usually, several days is safe although if you can get someone to check in, so much the better. You ought to have at least two litter boxes available. I also suggest two containers for water in case she spills one. Just make sure you put out a sufficient amount of food, and cats usually will pace themselves and not gorge themselves in one sitting.

Remember, if this is the first time, she may throw a snit when you get back. And be sure there are no breakables in reach, as she may seek 'revenge'. Cats usually hate changes, and you being away is a definite change. When you return, give her plenty of love and attention.

Growing up I had a cat... we would leave her for 3 days sometimes, just loaded up with food in a couple dishes (although she only ever had dry food) & plenty of water. She lived to be 16 years old, so I would say it didn't do her any harm. My boyfriend insists on going to his house 2 times a day to feed his cat and frets about leaving his cat alone for a couple days. I think cats are pretty good survivors & it's silly to think they can't stick it out for a couple days without you (even though they will be annoyed not having your attention!).

She should be fine as long as you leave plenty of food and water, just make sure there is enough water because they can never have enough and sometimes they drink alot. Your cat reminds me of a Persian I just recently lost:( I had him for 5 yrs) neways he used to hate dry food and would only want wet food and if i didn't give it to him he wouldn't let me get of the couch or bed and chase after me and try to attack me lol i miss him So much neways he ended up eating both i know this has nothing to do with your question i just miss him soo much ,sry.

I have left my kitties for a couple of days with lots of dry food and water. Leave an extra couple of bowls of water around too - in case she knocks one over. Just make sure anything that might hurt her is our of reach (my girlfriend went to the movies and when she came back her kitty was tangled up in the cord for the window blinds - kitty is fine but tie stuff like that out of reach.) If you have a neighbor or friend who could check on her on Saturday that would be best.

A cat can do just fine by itself for quite a while. You can get these oversized feeders that hold a weeks worth of food and water at a pet store. And, they work great.

What it absolutely needs, though, is something to distract it and keep it occupied. This could be as simple as a window to sit on and watch the world go by. Otherwise, it may go a little stir crazy and get into things it shouldn't (or usually doesn't).

Also, if your cat isn't very well scratch trained, consider trimming the cat's nails before you go, so he/she isn't inclined to scratch at things and destroy them without being reprimanded

your cat will be fine, just leave some Fresh water and dry food, and light on your house so people can know someone is there and maybe a couple toys to play with.

Good Luck on your trip.

It's up to you. A friend of mine went on vacation and I would go to her house and take care of her cat. Sometimes I
would stay a while and visit with the cat.
